    16 hours of training.. wow.

Talk about making this a right only of the privileged that can check out of home and work for that long.
Taking a course on Saturday and Sunday is something only the privileged can do?

This is a huge step for that state. People need to realize that they aren't going to make a pro gun, pro 2A, pro open carry, no training for CHL state out of a liberal mecca like Illinois in one fell swoop. Its incremental.

Greats Illinois, shows that even a state with one of the biggest cesspools in history can move a step in the right direction. Need to see allot more from them though.

Really gives you hope in the fight for our cause.

This is the thing - Illinois has long been anti-gun, so to see 'em give even an inch is a step in the right direction. Now, as taxpayers fed up with rising crime rates and long police response times cause ty the fiscal misdeeds of their lawmakers are finally able to defend themselves, they're very likely to find just how much they've been lied to. As their crime rates drop, other states residents will begin to take note, and start waking up to the fact that their personal safety is THEIR responsibility.......and the tide will hopefully turn.

Yes, there are many blue collar jobs that require folks to work weekends. It's a burden.

Man, glass half empty. They finally passed concealed carry in a state that didn't have it. That's a GOOD thing even if it I burdensome for now. They can always change it for the better next year...

    Someone was celebrating:

Vehicle with mounted 'gun' panics Detroit suburb - New York News

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A man driving an armor-plated military-type vehicle and firing what appeared to be a machine gun mounted on top caused a ripple of panic in suburban Detroit on the Fourth of July.

It turned out the weapon was a modified World War II .50-caliber machine gun that had been converted to fire compressed gas. It produced bright flashes and loud gunfire sounds as the driver, a man in his 40s, drove around Shelby Township.

At least it's Shall Issue and not that May Issue crap that they do in California and New York. Icing on the cake that this came out of Obama's home state.

Quinn said the bill would endanger public safety, and he made a series of proposals to change it.
That's what they said 20 years ago in Texas that every street would have regular shoot outs if people had guns. Well it didn't happen here or anywhere else and it won't happen in Illinois either.

That's what said in EVERY state where they finally allowed concealed carry. The typical libiturd rant that "There will be gunfights in the streets" or "We've moved into a gunsmoke society" or "We'll have vigilante justice running rampant." That last one always makes me laugh and I point out that in those states WITH concealed (or open) carry allowances, the crime rate has dropped without massive groups of these "imaginary" vigilantes randomly shooting the criminals. I have yet to see groups of armed individuals stalking the streets looking for criminals to shoot (just cops shooting civilians).
