I'm looking for good reasons to own a 1911, what are they?

My current Springfield Range Officer Champion has been flawless. Not only didn’t I clean it before taking it to the range, I didn’t clean it for about a year. I have no idea how many hundreds of rounds went through it before I finally cleaned it this month. The slide would not go all the way forward when I hit the slide release, I had to smack it to put it into battery. But it always went into battery after being shot. I wanted to see what it would take to make it jamb. It never did, and I started feeling guilty while cleaning other guns and finally cleaned it. That Commander sized 1911 with a bull barrel cost me $800.

Wether or not its a good gun certainly isn’t up for debate. There are very few pistols more enjoyable to shoot than the 1911 platform. They aren’t as cranky as they get a reputation for being. A 1911 is built to much tighter tolerances than say, a Glock. The tighter the tolerances are naturally going to make en a little bit finicky. Keep em lubed up!

Still overpriced. S&W, Ruger, Springfield, Remington, Rock Island, all make the same gun for a better price point.

If you want to buy a name, by all means, get a DW or Kimber, etc.

The Dan Wesson has more hand fitting than the others and doesn't have any MIM or cast internals like those others do.

That said I would look at Sig Springfield or Limber. And I am DW owner 4 times over.

Just curious, although I certainly like the looks of machined parts, but have the mim parts been a problem in 1911's?

Some will say yes, and some will say no. :green: I would prefer non MIM parts but wouldn't turn down a good deal on another gun.
Well, to be fair, this caught my eye some time ago, and I even got to hold one. I can't really justify buying it, but man it's hard to get it out of my thoughts.
