I'm taking a Canadian, who's never shot a gun, to the range.

I'm working with this Canadian guy on a database security project. Anyways, we got to talking and he is really trying to live up "all things Texas" and is surprisingly conservative for a foreigner.

He is interested in going to the range.

I'm planning on starting him off with:

    • some basic instructions and safety with a blue gun
    • then show him how to handle the real gun
    • then fire a 22 pistol, one round at a time
    • then shoot the 22 pistol some more
    • then move up to the Glock

I need to decide between Shady Oaks and Best of the West.

I certainly enjoy BOTW better, but Shady Oaks may work better schedule wise. I think in order to make sure he has a good experience and isn't jaded by the crowed indoor/loud range, we will hit up BOTW.

I'm trying to do some international firearms rights recruitment here!

Reminded of the French group I took shooting last year.
I hope they're as well as can be at this point.

I worked with a Canadian Air Force officer here in San Antonio who was an avid shooter. Canadians for the most part are very pro-gun despite their laws. They are also typically conservative. And friendly.

Treat him like you would any other first-time shooter.

Yeah, I know there are a lot of Canadian hunters of course. He's from a city, so may not be much different than most folks here being from a city.

Considering their new PM, I don't know how conservative they are. Seems to be a pretty split country, much like ours. Strangely enough I've worked with a bunch of Canadians lately and yes, they are usually very friendly.

I'll report back here if/when we go and let you all know how it went.

Hey man, good to see you!!

Thanks, I still need to join ARC. It needs to stop getting flooded!

I took a guy from Venezuela a while back. He had a great time, even took some of the brass back home with him. He took pictures/video of everything too.

They can't have guns there, so I let him shoot up a bunch of my ammo. It was worth it. Topped it off with lunch at South Side Market in Elgin.

    Somewhere here nor there....
Taking foreigners to the range is always fun. Good for you BC and yes good to see you back. The best trip I had was taking some Asians to the range. We had a blast as well as joking with them and the AK47 they loved firing the most. I had to joke with them on why they didn't fire any AK's when they were kids in Vietnam. They laughed their arses off as they were not vietnamese. We are still very good friends today and that was years ago...

Welcome back. An out door rang may be the better choice, depending on weather right now. Generally not so rushed as indoor with a time clock. Good for you by the way. I try to get as many noobs as I can.
