Momma’s pecan pie is the best.

    My momma.

One Cajun mama, and two grandmothers swore they used the recipe on the original Karo Syrup bottle.

Doing the same never quite lived up to what they said when I did it, and the secret died with them.

For the past twenty years it's been Jim Goode's, Goode Company Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie for Thanksgiving and Holidays.

I use to ship one to my dad for the holidays, until he told me the deadbeat nephew would show up & eat half of the pie in one sitting!

    Gunz are icky.
Believe it or not the Moonpie once upon a time made a pretty decent pecan pie.
The father-in-law had pecan trees on his place and supplied us with coffee cans full of fresh shelled pecans.
    It was wondermous.
Found a real good recipe in an old cook book. Used allspice and a little salt. Made a delicious pie.
Somehow the recipe book got lost. :-(

I heard a guy from Georgia and a guy from Texas getting into this once. The guy from Georgia said.

“Do you Texans drink beer in an aluminum kahn or can?”

Only Yankee bastards call them pee-cans.

LOL. Watching a TV show one night in the 50's called "What's My Line" was the first time we ever heard a Yankee say pee-can for pecan ... it was a family joke at Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings for the next 50 years.

If enunciation's a pet peeve, try some time in Boston or it's immediate environs......you'll go completely insane......

    How do I know?

I have family in that part of the world.

Even my last 'brutha' lives there and I have a very difficult time listening to him speak.

We haven't spoken in over 20 years......
