I think the fundamental problem is too much democracy.

Yes, the rule of law and Constitutional government must be reinstated, but if the masses can keep voting for representatives and leaders who refuse to abide by the Constitutional Republican form of government, then we will be right back to where we are now.

Which brings me back to my point. We have too much democracy.

Who should be able to vote?

Who should be unable to vote?

I don't know about too much democracy. The Democrats are just more sophisticated at using welfare, unions, and bailouts to buy off votes, then they use the media, community groups, and the union leadership to propagandize, organize and get out the vote. Not to mention the voter fraud in the inner cities involving absentee ballots.

Most Republicans are pretty genuine, which is why they spend most of their time fighting each other.

Sure, if you receive welfare, belong to a union, or work for a company that was bailed out, you can't vote.

I am ok with just having an ID.

On welfare and therefore can't vote? Slippery slope but may be what it takes to save our country.

any senior citizen who has had their home value and property taxes frozen should not be able to vote in a bond election where they can force new taxes on me but a newly passed bond does not effect their taxes.

A better way would be to give U.S. citizens 1 extra vote for every $1,000 NET they pay to the Government in taxes. You would walk into the polling station with appropriate I.D. and your most recent Income Tax return for federal or state elections and your property tax bill for municipal elections, get X number of ballots or be allowed to cast X number of votes electronically. If you haven't filed, you don't get to vote more than once. The people with the most skin in the game get their voices heard. Veterans automatically get 1 vote for every year of service whether they pay NET taxes or not.

    Wow.

Everybody is all about the risks that true freedom entails, unless it applies to elections I guess.

I would rather this country go so far down the drain it requires the reset button than start picking and choosing which citizens can vote.

Pretty slippery slope, and doomed to take us to a place we don't want to go.

I'd like to see this country go so close to the brink that people are forced to get off their butts and get back to work. Too many entitled folks sitting around yelling to the hills about how "disadvantaged" they are, while the rest of us are on the job and not being heard. Because we're working.

As a native of Chicago, voting fraud is, to me, absolutely certain! With our computerized voting system, wholesale fraud is foolishly simple.

Fraud is not necessary today as ALL of the Presidential candidates work for the same big money types and owe allegiance to them! Our people THINK they are exercising choice for "A" or "B". In reality, the choice is "A" or "A". There is NO real choice and the outcome is rigged. Campaigns keep the noise turned up to mask reality......it's all a game!

I study the candidates and vote in every election. In the back of my mind, though, is a feeling that it's all for nothing.

The problem is that we are a constitutional republic with democratically elected leaders, but we threat it like a democracy.

Constitutional issues don't get to legally change with a democratic vote or even a majority vote of representatives. There is a process outlined for changing the constitution and it's constantly disregarded.

That was my point also. There is a large entitlement contingent in this country and it is growing. The democrats say they know what you need better than you do. Saying which citizens can vote and which ones can't is what socialism, markism, communism nazism take your pick.

If you have skin in the game( pay income tax) your vote should count for more than someone who lives off of the taxpayers.

I don't blame democracy as much as I blame the continuation of the stupidest 2 party system (Liberal vs Moderate) in presidential elections. If were gonna change anything we need to ban political parties.

Most seniors(ones I know) vote against any new tax the folks who vote for bonds are normally liberals and those living in apartments along with low income people who never pay taxes except sales.
