Then no adjustment would be needed... Average drop at 100 is 8.3" and well within the abilities to dial it in on most scopes and certainly within the ability of most shooters to hold over/guesstimate.

I have heard good things about KIDD. From what I understand them and Clark's Custom in Shreveport are probably the top of the line for accuracy oriented 10/22s. I have a Tactical Solutions 10/22 and love it. I am kicking around getting a Clarks Custom for Sportsman Team Challenge though. Just not sure I can justify owning two 10/22s.... (that coming from a guy who currently has 10 ARs)... :)

My dad owns a bad ass Clark Customs 10/22. He knew & worshipped Clark Sr. and has one of his custom 6" 1911s he picked up. There are pics of me at Clark's Shop when I was in a stroller(approx 1976). I am trying to figure out a way for him to let me "borrow" it for a while, but he uses it around the house to shoot coons, dillos, snakes, etc. Here are a few pics of his 10/22:

So, what if one has no plans for further than 100yds or so?

I wouldn't add moa if you don't plan on shooting out past 100 yds. The drop is about 8inches and most scopes can dial down to that.

Out to 250 yards your drop is 8 feet......

So, You have a scope set to 50 yards and then decide to try and get the cross hair on the target out 250 yards.

The chart below states to dial in a drop MOA of 37.1. 37.1 x 4 as you have 1\4 moa clicks on your scope = 148 clicks on your scope. Some scopes, most scopes will run out of room to adjust that far.

Having 20 MOA on the receiver elevates the scope saving you 80 clicks. Now the scope has 148 scope clicks (No MOA) - 80 scope clicks (Added MOA) = 60 scope clicks more to adjust down to 250 yards.

That is sweet. I will probably use a Tac Sol receiver on the one I get them to build for me though. Really like the integrated picatinny rail on the receiver. Love the stock on your dad's gun there... I am probably going to be shooting on a STC team with 2 of Jim Sr's grandson's so I will probably have to get Jim Jr to build me a gun soon.. :)

A quarter at 100? I would be impressed.

Mind you that's on a good, calm day.

Here's a pic of my wife and her 100-yard dot drills. She can plug them into nickle-sized targets pretty damn consistently. Scary as hell for someone who's only been into shooting for about 5 years now. The pic is a good example of what the previous rifle is capable of in the hands of moderately competent shooters. This was done on a simple sandbag rest sitting next to a guy with a 7mm mag pummeling us every few seconds I can only imagine what expert shooters can do with it.

I'll post pics of my targets with the new rifle once it comes in... I'll try not to embarrass myself.

That's a freaking beautiful rifle... dammit I'm jealous again. You're going to cost me some money, Scott. Damn you.

How many 10/22 rifles are we allowed to own anyway? There has to be an implied limit somewhere...

    Thanks.

Well, if I had my way... I'd have at least one 10/22 setup as a carbine to shoot offhand with a 25-50 yard zero. I'd have a 10/22 for bench shooting at 50 and another for 100+ Lol. So at least 3.

Friend of mine had a Clark longslide built from a Colt series 70. He needed money and I sold it for him, got $1100. I kick myself for not buying that gun.

Scott, I'm surprised you're interested in a 10/22 considering you run an Anschutz! Always wanted one of those bad boys but have a hard time finding one new at a reasonable price. Can't find anyone who wants to part with one used. The KIDD rifles are great but the Anschutz will probably spoil most people against a semi-auto for precision shooting.
Also, I checked out the Rimfire Challenge posts. I think my wife is even more jazzed about it than me Hopefully, we'll take a crack at it before the end of the month using the Hogue rifle.

If she's nailing nickle sized bullseyes at 100, this is going to be a fun one for her(and you). I love my Anschutz(technically my dad's but on somewhat of a "permanent loan" since he doesn't use it). I am just nutty about Rimfire right now. I want to track down a Suhl 150 as well. Most likely I will just buy 2 super nice 10/22(a KIDD and possibly do a lightweight build with Kidd/Volquartsen parts) I also want one of those 10/22 Volquartsen makes chambered in 17hmr. That looks fun. Other than a long range rifle(way down the line), I don't have any plans to buy any centerfire stuff anytime soon.

I wish I would have gotten addicted to something I can shoot forever super cheap instead of my $1.50+ per shot bolt guns... :)

I'm heading that direction... I just figure if I can't do some decent shooting with a 22lr at 200, I have no business buying a super expensive bolt gun. But AICS, Surgeon, and GAP are all sites I viist weekly.

Interesting chart... Here is the one I have been using(and it also compares the drop to 308)...

    22lr 40gr. .075bc 1040fps / .308win 165grSST .447bc 2600fps

    22lr drop .308
    50yds 0 = 100yds
    75yds 2.8 = 175yds
    100yds 8.3 = 240yds
    125yds 17.6 = 315yds
    150yds 30.8 = 380yds
    175yds 47.3 = 450yds
    200yds 68.7 = 510yds
    225yds 92.5 = 560yds
    250yds 123.9 = 630yds
    275yds 158.2 = 690yds
    300yds 199.9 = 770yds
    325yds 248.8 = 820yds
    350yds 304.8 = 880yds
    375yds 367.9 = 940yds
    400yds 437.6 = 987yds

I have the best results from Wolf Match as well. I never thought "Wolf" anything would be worth a damn (accuracy-wise) but I hear it's made in the same plant as SK match. Btw, I just got an email from KIDD Innovations, my new rifle is done and has shipped to my FFL. I should have it in hand early next week. I'll post pics as soon as she comes in. Can't wait.
