If the truth be known I am several paces to the Right of the guy that invented Right. Not a radical Right - winger but I am of a mind to start shooting Democrats...LOL!

My father told me jokingly many years ago, if i ever voted for a liberal Democrat, he would disown me and cut me out of his will. He said it as a joke, but part of me thinks he might have been serious too!

I can relate to that in a different way.
My mother (89) is a died in the wool FDR Democrat and proud Socialist. We do NOT get along but she has no choice but to deal with me. My father passed a couples years ago and he an I were very close. He made me executor of their estate by Power of Attorney because of the way my mother is. She is a mean old evil woman but she is my mom. I promised my father I would take care of her. I cannot even talk sensibly with her without being cursed at. Several years ago before my father passed, we were at a family reunion which had been held annually for at least 100 years. A pretty big gathering. My parents at that time were the senior couple there. My mother started clinking her glass for attention and then proclaimed to everyone, "Had she known that her son would grow ab be a Republican, she would have flushed me down a toilet!" She was serious and glaring at me. I am her sole means of support for everything.
Life is such fun!!!

I can even relate to that to some degree! My father is pretty conservative on most things, and especially when it comes to guns and gun rights. My mother, was pretty much a huge liberal! She thought no one but the military or LE officers needed guns. Now there was never any hate between us, but she and I did have differences of opinions on that subject.

She came to visit us some years ago, not long before she passed, she was kind of shocked that my brother and I carried guns on daily basis, and in public! She was equally amazed that her two youngest granddaughters had learned how to shoot at a very early age and were quite good shooters.

But, my mother did live in California, not far from LA!

It has been shown that I know little to nothing about things I share or comment on. I have never professed to know everything about anything. Merely a regurgitation of information from my limited experience. I am old school and the world is passing me by.

Mine is a strange existence dealing with overeducated academics and scholars in museum staffs. They, like me live in a time warp. If I talk to them in single syllable words they look at me as some kind of uneducated rube.
So many of the books on the history of our nation and the guns that played a huge role with the conflicts and circumstance that I read are original source works written at the time. First and sometimes the only editions I own in my library. Government bound documents to Congress and The Secretary of War on military orders, empirical testing of new (at that time) guns and weapons. Most of those books were written and printed before 1879. I have all of the original Congressional Records of The Civil War. Fun stuff! Journals of US Ships and Brigs in battle with The Barbary (Muslim) Pirates when Thomas Jefferson was President.
This history is all but forgotten and NOT taught today unless you pursue a Degree in US History. I did.
I do not men to use them 10 dollar words... it is the way I talk.
My mind lives in a different American era. I collect this junk!
I am NOT being a smart ass or trying to be superior... I am not!
