I don't think they will ever be able to make one that fires accurately without a steel barrel.

If you can put yourself in the year when that law came out they were worried about Glocks that had just hit the market big time.

Everyone was talking about this "tupperware" gun. Ya, they'd been manufactured from the early 80s but that year they really started to hit the market.

I'd been reading about them in the gun rags, and they were on the news due to this law, but the first one I accually saw was on the hip of a DEA agent that summer. "That a glock?" I asked "Yep, model 17" He said "Aren't you worried it'll fall apart?" I asked.

That wasn't the first time he'd been asked that and I got a very defensive explanation of what a polymer was.

Guess who signed that bill into law in 1988 as president?

I don't know how you can ever make this illegal or "undetectable." You have to use metal parts on a firearm, you can't get around that. A 3D printer is not going to be able to fabricate those.

This one has no metal parts except the useless block.

That's why the accuracy sucks and the gun doesn't last long.

I might be over simplifying this, but .... wouldn't the ammunition be easily detectable? A gun is nothing but a brick without something to fire from it.
