Manuals aren’t dying because of carmakers.
They’re dying because buyers don’t want them.

And not just America, it’s everywhere.
Lamborghini and Ferrari stopped selling them years ago due to lack of interest.

The reasons are myriad, but autoboxes out-perform manuals at the track because a human can’t shift that fast, and the momentary lack of power while shifting kills lap/acceleration times.

Plus more gear ratios so the engine can remain in the power band.

And for some crazy reason, carmakers that do offer manuals saddle them with too-tall final drive ratios.

I get reimbursed for mileage ( whatever the irs number is) so since I will be driving everywhere between here and Utah I am hoping my mileage will pay for it and then some.
Hell yes and a good ole fashion joy ride..

I have a 2016 Honda Civic 6 speed manual (with cruise). I don't think its that much of a pain in stop and go traffic, but I have a short commute (now) and rarely deal with it. I get 36 mpg in the city (mostly driving under 30 mph to work) and it goes up from there with high speed/highway miles. I once tried to check my highway mileage during a road trip, but my mpg when to hell once I set the cruise to 85. When I get a chance to stretch her legs on highways or parkways, I usually end up with 42 or 45 mpg for the tank. These mpgs are much better than Honda advertises; I think my shifting routine probably produces higher mpg the CVT (automatic) version in the same conditions. I have only owned manuals and I just like them. I suspect this one might be my last (sigh).

Yeah there’s way more to driving enjoyment than lap times.

IMHO it’s a lot of fun to drive a slow car fast.
It’s not all that fun driving a fast car slow on the street.

It sucks needing a vehicle in the current market. Hope you didn't do too bad on it.

    Enjoy!

Congrats! I hope it serves you well. I bought a Mazda MX-5 this year with manual & cruise & MSRP - sounds familiar.

    That's an automatic.

hmm, maybe you're just buying the wrong Toyotas. Pretty sure the Supra and MR2 had cruise control

No, I grew up driving a stick I know what manual is.

Here's my car. They only made 8000 so it's not your "standard" package. It has MANUAL and AUTOMATIC transmission packages. I know it's hard to understand, but it's true.
