I've had several customers tell me they forgot they had a Sog Keyknife on their keyring when they went through airport security. Nobody noticed it. Passed them through. It's easy to for get. I usually wind up within sight of a metal detector before I remember I have one on my belt and one in each pants pocket. Get used to it and you don't think about it.

Now that you mention it, I always have this thing on me and I forget about it. It's been through airport security several times.

Started a new job, and even pocket knives are not allowed in the workplace.

    What are some alternatives.

For defense? Do this at your own risk, but I'd carry one anyways. Unless someone is sticking their hand in your pocket, they have no way of knowing what you have.

I used to work for a place that did not allow pocket knives, but the conditions of the job put the workers in a position of potential danger. The police aren't usually close by, it's night, anyone can get to you at any time, and there's only one other person there with you. I carried an Ontario Rat II so that I would at least have something to defend myself with, and no one ever knew.

The pen idea would be safer in regards to you not getting fired if caught.

    "SOS pouch" love it
Since we're talking about an office setting, you could improvise something similar by keeping an extra pair of socks at your desk. A coffee mug slid into a sock could really give someone hell.

That's nothing. In culinary school you aren't allowed to bring pocket knives in. Really? Everyone in school has at least 5 razor sharp culinary knives and they're worried about a pocket knife?
