Years ago when I was developing my own chili recipe, I pretty much did it with no beans in it. When I'd make a HUGE batch for the guys at work, I'd make two batches, same recipe, one with beans and one without. Chili with beans got cleaned out first and fastest!

What I have observed, even here in Texas, it seems more people from my experiences like chili with beans.

I've started asking "competition chili or feed six kids chili?" The former forbidding beans, the latter relying on them.
I use to use four different style of beans in my chili w/ beans recipe. Ranch style, pinto, chili beans and dark red kidney beans.

The last two times I made chili, I used some home-cooked pinto beans from my slow cooker in my chili. Beans were cooked with some smoked brisket as well.

Sure perked up that chili a bit! Much better than the store bought canned beans by bunch.

Sounds like beans in chili. Morning.

Cooper tires has been running an ad lately that mentions going to a chili cook off. One line says “Without them, we may never know the winning bean-to-meat ratio of a good chili.” I thought the answer was “no beans”.
