About to facilitate my first grief recovery group for teens. Hope they don't eat me alive.

I was pretty nervous about it, being my first time. But it went well. Only 3 of the 10 registered showed up. 2 were chatty which loosened the third one up.

Went really well. Appreciate the well wishes.

Almost as bad as one of them Yankee's talking about putting chili on spaghetti! :what:

You compare me to a yankee one more time and I’m heading north to Palestine.

My mother’s family, who have been Texans for generations served it with rice, so that is how we grew up. I guess the rice does the same as beans: makes the meat stretch further.

My Cajun wife thinks they are nuts. It seems that chili is the only meal she doesn’t have rice with. (not quite true, but it makes a point)

Chili in the UK comes with rice, but not sure I trust the Brits. They tried to serve me Cajun salmon. Salmon!!??? You can’t catch salmon in Louisiana.

Y'all"s attitude about chili makes me laugh.

Never seen so many rules about eating food.

If I want to add green beans to my chili from a can and pour it on a bowl of cereal it's none of your business.

Of course some might wonder if you're pregnant!

In competition chili cook-offs they do have some rules regarding how the chili is made. Beans, rice, any sort of pasta is a no go according to their rules.

Honestly, a lot of old-timers that lived during the Depression years and even long after, learned ways of making meat go further. Beans were an excellent source of protein and many used it as meat substitute because it was really cheap to grow or buy beans. Rice pretty much the same.
