Perhaps this thread title should drop the NSFW marker applied to it then?

No need to. Some image owners ruthlessly track down cross-postings of their image and send C&D letters to the owners of this site. They have to take the image down or face a lawsuit.

Due to the opt-in nature of The Man Cave, that problem is largely mitigated.

That's a perfectly reasonable question to ask. I think the answer is no. Lots of NSFW speech is posted in this thread so the NSFW part of the title is still applicable.

Over time, though, the forum has naturally sorted content into various threads. This thread, for example, is THE place to say "Good morning" to everyone. If we start sticking random "Good morning" statements in other threads, they may not be terribly off-topic but they would be, in practical terms, misplaced. By an unspoken and almost universal agreement, this is where we say "Good morning."

Cheesecake photos are the same. Over time and after lots of experimenting, without even much discussion, the membership has chosen to sort those posts mostly (not entirely, but mostly) into The Man Cave.

It's not a rule. It's not going to get anyone banned. It's just established convention.

Also, there's a practical and legal consideration. Cheesecake photos sometime come from sources who want them plastered everywhere but retain the legal right to raise a stink if they don't like where their pic is posted. If pictures are posted in publicly accessible parts of TGT, they may draw takedown requests under U.S. law and the handling of those requests entails some legal liability. The ownership of TGT has had to deal with this issue before and it costs time and bother. If it's not handled right, it could cost a lot more. It's a job that shouldn't have to be done and, if screwed up, holds the potential to cause TGT to go offline permanently.

I don't think any mod is going to be a jerk about it but it would be better if the cheescake stayed in The Man Cave, where it's not visible to robots and crawlers and susceptible to shady sifting and legal notices auto-generated by unthinking software.
