    Formatted my thumb drive yesterday. Problem is it has about 5 years worth of work on it and everything I use on a daily basis.

    Spent $70 on a program to recover it and it seems to have worked well, but I'll spend the evening digging through and sorting files. Seems most of the folders I had things organized in were not saved. Some are but the names are gone.

    It's interesting to see just how much doesn't get deleted when you format a drive though. Basically everything is still there.

    That’s why the security standard is 7 passes writing random data with deletion in between.
