I was going to write my research paper on both Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt. Now, however, I want to research Every time the government turned a blind eye on things that could have been avoided.

    McAlester, OK
And I agree with you. It wasn't even a real surrender as it was the Germans miscalculated the Russian forces. But as you said, they were not defeated. They retreated back to Germany when they lost too many soldiers.

What? The Treaty of Versailles awarded blame for WWI on Germany demanding heavy monetary reparations, loss of German Controlled Lands including important agricultural assets, dismantling and removal of Steel Production Facilities, Explosives and Arms Production Assets which were surrendered to conquering Allied Nations. Germany was economically and agriculturally devastated and left barely able to sustain its population. German attempts to bolster its economy by printing money unbacked by bullion or even a productive GNP led to rampant inflation. The German People starved and fomented against the Allies and their retribution ultimately leading to the assent of the National Socialist Party, Hitler and WWII. This was what happened. Germany was controlled by a authoritarian, militant government that led them into WWI, and the German People were forced to pay a heavy price as consequences for actions beyond their control.

That treaty was under Woodrow Wilson. Yes, Germany suffered greatly for that, but they never truly surrendered in World War II.
