Morning all.
Complacency, number one killer in accidents.Very sad.
Didn't two officers on foot get killed not too long ago on train tracks? Chasing somebody or something.
You wouldn't think it possible not to hear a train but apparently it happens. I guess people get so preoccupied with other thoughts that they lose their surroundings.
Doppler effect I guess. Not much sound moving in front of the train if it is traveling. From what I have been told it is pretty hard to hear a train and judge its distance from you while on or near the tracks.
I don't know about all that. But, I can tell ya this. I live 7mi from BNSF track. On a calm day... I can hear and feel the train. It blows my mind I can feel it 7mi away. That is some serious power, weight and inertia! From what I have been told it is pretty hard to hear a train and judge its distance from you while on or near the tracks.
Very interesting....I know what you mean as we live near tracks too but check these out:

Mawning y'all!
I'm felling a little adventurous today, I think im take the kids on a little road trip tomorrow to Gonzales & do some sight seeing.
I still need to go there. Mortal sin I know.
I need to hit some rainbow trout spots before they're done for the year. They're still stocking thankfully.
