I had a 1964 Chevy Pickup six cylinder 3 on tree over 250 K miles . It was up North so the Body rotted so much it became a low rider. I think any Vehicle with a column shift would be just about Theft proof these days.

Almost any stick but I fondly remember driving work trucks with a 3 speed on the column. I recall my grandparents retrieving a car in storage back in the early 80's. One of their mother's cars - late 50's Chrysler with a push button transmission. Hadn't been driven in years but someone did basic maintenance on it and they drove it from Texas back to Phoenix.

My dad was a mechanic and had his own shop and fixed up a 49 ford as my first car. I only got to drive it when I got my learner's permit, so I actually learned to drive a column stick shift before floor stick or an automatic. My dad died before he put the car in my name, so my evil stepmother sold it and kept the money.
