But it happened because vis was low down to 600' innthe center of the runway, and there are not trees near that big at ABIA...
Front the position of that "camera" there should have been trees like that there

Horsepower is almost too easy to make these days. I imagine it was a lot more fun struggling with how to make power, and get it to stick back then. Many of today's pedestrian people moving SUV's would kick the dog snot out of many of the performance cars of the 60's. 14 second quarter miles used to be fast, now it's darned near the starting point of acceptable.

I like going to the Nostalgia Drags....
I remember seeing the Ramchargers dragster at NY National Speedway in the 60's 70's, smoking the big slicks the whole 1/4 mile. That was how it was done, no burnouts to heat up the slicks. No electric start, push start, I remember when I was allowed to push start a friend's dragster. I thought I had to push it fast, he started it then stopped. Here I come probably going 50 mph, slamming the brakes. I hit the push bar, gave him a jolt.
