I'm as Pro 2A as it gets but, I still have to wonder if things like this are really doing more harm than good. I mean scaring some soccer moms who is otherwise neutral isn’t going to help our cause if anything it is going to hurt our cause, what is going to help is education and commonsense action, not showing off and shoving it in the face of people.

"If you can teach a child not to touch a hot stove than you can teach a child not to touch a gun" this one phrase has gotten me more dirty looks from Moms and AH HA moments from Dads than anything else without causing any fear or getting me arrested (so far). Writing our "leaders" and letting them know that you are a tax paying American who votes and will not have your rights taken from you or restricted or you will elect someone that will do a better job of representing our views and beliefs is one simple thing that can be done. Emails are free, phone calls are basically free and snail mail costs less than one round of most common calibers and I use all three to let my voice be heard.

We need more positive media coverage about lawful use of firearms and not just a bunch of old guys out shooting on some tacti-cool course but showing women and children getting involved and if they have a pink or hello-kitty AR15 or their .22s and pistols that’s even better. Or here is one that will cause a stir, report on the number of people that failed the NICS Vs. the number of people that are prosecuted. The numbers are sickening and it is a logical argument for before we write new laws that restrict the freedoms of those of us that follow the law; we need to start enforcing the laws we already have on the books.

Just curious, but do the OC groups every Book one of the places for the event?? It would seem to solve several issues. It "almost" becomes your restaurant for a while, so if anti gunner show you can tell'em to get screwed. 2. Pack the place to the gills, and tip the shit out of staff. hold your event and go in peace. 3. I'd recommend spending the money for a off duty for "security", One who is versed in what the statutes actually say , to handle anti OC asses who do show up. Just a thought or two.

So let's say Texas passes OC for handguns. And your in your favorite BBQ place or Fast Food place or Franchise restaurant like Chilis or Applebees. and you have your honkin 1911 hanging from your OWB holster. What if the manager comes to you and say you'll have to leave, we are getting complaints about your gun.....Mind you there are no signs up front stating 30:06 or 51% Just by following the rules your have been labeled like THOSE EVIL BLACK RIFLE CARRIERS. then what? What ever your complaint about OCT is , is bound to happen eventually if OC for handguns gets passed.

Not sure I get the point of your post. Posted or not, if you are on private property and asked to leave, you darn well better leave.

My point is that OC handgun carriers are probably going to be treated the same way, Those that go into restaurants with long guns ! and i am sure those in the MEDIA will paint the THEY ARE ALL GUN NUTS picture also. I personally don't see any wrong doing with People carrying legally either CC or OC. But to paint the people in the group OCT like they are hurting the cause.... Not sure what the cause is. either it's legal as it is in Texas or it's not? If the 2nd Amendment guarantees your right to carry, Then having a commercial establishment asking you to leave in my view is a discrimination ( of sorts). if it's just a matter that the State in their Kindness allows you to conceal carry, then it's the state that controls that right. If that's all you are worried about, then i feel the Constitution as it was written originally is in big trouble.

Open carry of handguns here in WI isn't a big deal. No mad mothers etc.

I lived in Az. for a while and opened carried either myGlock19 or my XD45 sometimes while I was there, mostly when I was either goingout to BLM land to shoot or on my way home afterwards but no one ever thoughttwice about it, I was never asked to leave, McDonalds, Starbucks, Applebees, Walmart orjust the local grocery store and people (if they even noticed) just went abouttheir life, mothers did rush their children away or report me to anyone, heck Isaw a Cop that couldn’t get his lighter to work so I offered to let him usemine, we talked for a minute about the fact we were both caring a Glock 19C, itwas simply a non-issue.

Now these clowns packing ARs, AKs, SKSs and other longarms are just doing it to get attention then when one gets arrested it’s almostlike they are bragging about it and to say "it caused an outrage" yeah sureit did, that is like saying “I'm famous, among dozens” they may have got upsetbut a few guys trying to push the limit and getting arrested for it hardly isan “outrage”.

I would like to see OC in Texas but not because I want tobe able to take my heavy barreled Remington 700 .308 into Dairy Queen for aburger and fries but so that way if I am going about my daily life and I movein a certain way that my pistol gets uncovered, I don’t have to worry aboutgetting in trouble for it. Even if it is still legal to OC I’ll still mostlikely CC just because it is the courteous thing to do while I am protected but notshoving it in the faces of those that still choose to be ignorant and followwhat the lame media tells them.
