Look. It's simple. It attaches to the belt. A prosecutor is going to have a hard time getting around that simple glaring fact

I hope you're right. Actually, I hope it never comes up. :)

And without the belt attachment it would be an ankle holster.

Thank you for making my point.

Judge. May I approach the witness.

Please put what you are calling a not a belt holster on.

No sir, do not attach it to the belt.

Thank you. Walk around, jump up and down

Oh. You are right. It's an ankle holster.

Now, lets attach the belt holster to the BELT. See it's a belt holster. No belt and it doesn't work.

So does a holster on a lanyard attached to the belt but dangling between my legs qualify as a belt holster?

Can I wear a belt holster with the belt fastened around my head? My leg? My ankle? My wrist?

Fasten a shoulder holster so it's a codpeice? I'm batman!!!

Carry it in my hand in a belt or shoulder holster?

    :)

Yes. It is attached to the belt

Can I wear a belt holster with the belt fastened around my head? My leg? My ankle? My wrist?

Good question. I think the belt should be around the waist or near the waist.

Fasten a shoulder holster so it's a codpeice?
Is it hung or supported by a shoulder?

    I'm batman!!!
    Yes sir, you are. Lol

Carry it in my hand in a belt or shoulder holster?
No. I think the basic premise is supported by the belt or shoulder

This could be fun for the lawyers

    And costly for defendants.

No offense, but your fun comes often comes at a steep price. Saying that it's easily beaten in court really isn't all that encouraging for someone like me.

All you have to do is go back and look at our member who spent $5k just to prove he was doing something perfectly legal and written in black and white.

So, does this mean that "paddle" holsters are not legal for OC? No belt loops, belt not even needed to fit over a waist band.

Unfortunately, this forces me to question whether I would be allowed to OC with my "clip-on" IWB holster?
Obviously, only the part above the waistline would be exposed.

Aren't both of these designed to attach to/on/over a belt, making them belt holsters?

    Curious minds... and good questions!

    That, simple email.

The AG doesn't provide opinions based on citizen requests.

    https://texasattorneygeneral.gov/opinion/about-attorney-general-opinions#whocan

Who Can Request an Attorney General Opinion?
Sections 402.042 and 402.043 of the Government Code list the officials who are authorized to request formal attorney general opinions on questions of law. The attorney general is prohibited by statute from giving a written opinion to anyone other than an authorized requestor. Authorized requestors are:

    • the governor
    • the head of a department of state government
    • the head or board of a penal institution
    • the head or board of an eleemosynary institution
    • the head of a state board
    • a regent or trustee of a state educational institution
    • a committee of a house of the Texas Legislature
    • a county auditor authorized by law
    • the chairman of the governing board of a river authority
    • a district or county attorney

A person other than an authorized requestor who would like to request an attorney general opinion may ask an authorized requestor to submit the question to the attorney general. The authorized requestor has the discretion to decide whether to ask for an attorney general opinion in any given instance.
