This is how they are justifying shutting down Parler.
Perhaps. Theirs is a very weak case, full of holes, and laughable to most who are paying attention.

I did see this little bit of news:

Watch for a full on assault of Epik now.

After reading about the hack - and I did make a Parler account but didn't do the "verification" thing, I don't think I'm going back when they are up and running.

Seems like their security is non-existent and anyone there has opened themselves up bigly.

I have given a great deal of thought to the rise of the various "social media" over the years from the AOL chat rooms to Six Degrees in late 1990s to Friendster to Linkedin, then MySpace and then Facebook and Twitter as the major players. Instagram and Snapchat etc are all out there.

Why the popularity? Why do people post all manner of personal information for anyone to see? Why are these programs being used by politicians, doctors, most commercial entities as well as neighborhood associations, churches schools etc?

The besides being a cheap to free method of communicating, it is a mentally addictive communication form. Ummmmmm look at how many of us on TGT frequent and post here.

Everything I’ve found says that the supposed hack is a load of BS and you can’t really make the connection between the supposed leak and using it to access the information that was supposedly accessed.

I'm not holding my breath either way. If it was on the Amazon servers, and we KNOW that Amazon is in bed with this, then someone somewhere at Amazon DOES have some form of access to all that data and if you were a committed liberal, it would totally be work the risk of being fired by Amazon to get that data out.

Even the recent republican administration wanted a 'back door' into (Apple) encryption. Probably not possible to kill off all encryption, but there may be other ways. Like punishing people that use it.

Privately owned companies should be able to do what they want (they shouldn’t be protected by the gov’t either tho, can’t have it both ways). Don’t like their rules, don’t give them your business. Maybe if their subscriber base was cut in half it would get their attention?
I like Trump’s idea of starting up his own social media platform just as anyone is free to do. Then you can say anything you want and kick out all the Liberals :)
No. It doesn't work like that.

This is long but it's worth the time, especially for folks who think that the free market can sort this out.

Exactly. A lot of these "hacks" are going to be inside jobs. Like State Department Web site. Trump haters are feeling invincible. TDS will likely get worse, not better.

Even I am surprised how much effort I have expended to keep from supporting these communists, once they announced their intentions. Communists? There is much more money to be made from both sides than there is picking a side. Allowing both sides is a more capitalist philosophy.

In simple terms if you stay neutral, you make more money selling weapons to both sides, than you do picking one.

You make the most money if you destroy the other sides means of competing.

Overwhelming majority of Republicans/Right/Conservatives will not be voting with their wallet and they know it. Just look at how many stay on twitter and complain about getting suspended, get unsuspended, they go right back. Trump would be on their right now if they let him. Stuck on stupid.

Ah, but some of us prefer being in a place that's not an echo chamber. TBH, Parler wasn't that great because of that.

That's because they are too comfortable.

Half of these guys wanting a fight have never been to some sh*thole third world country, been shot at or for that reason missed a meal, shower or been wet and cold.

It's a lot different than a video game.

They have no idea of the consequences of what they are talking about, Insurrection Act.

How many of these pansies can have their entire family agree with their view of politics? You don't get to chose who lives or dies in a Civil War. Brother against Brother Father against Son.

A historical example the Battle of Malvern Hill, where a son killed his father:

    May God help us!

The Twilio hypothesis doesn't seem to be correct, but they did indeed have a security breach of some kind. It did sound to me they had certain verifications failing to success instead of failing to denied.

Of course it's addicting; communication is fundamental to being human. Sure some nefarious people have harnessed the desire to communicate for personal gain at the expense of others. Kinda like how corn syrup gets added to everything to stimulate our sweet cravings. We just have to pace ourselves and not eat that whole bag of chips in one sitting.
