But to the OP's point...our dress and appearance aren't the same throughout history. We're not driving Model T's. We're no longer using iceboxes to keep food cold. My dad was a former drill instructor and cop for over three decades. His reason for me to keep my hair short was that only drug addicts had long hair, beards and mustaches. When I was 14 he finally let me grow it out almost as long as Paul's in this pic.
