I am sure you are all aware of the story, if not, I'll provide a link where you can read about it.

Okay, so please tell me why our military isn't doing more about these thugs. I am getting tired of hearing them called pirates, they are terrorists. Terrorists of the seas. How can it be that a US citizen is being held on a small lifeboat, in front of our Navy, and they are not doing anything. It's beyond my comprehension as to why they are not allowed to engage the pirates. The article only says that OUR rules of engagement do not allow them to save a civilian!!! What?!? I now question why we are wasting our tax dollars if we can't do anything. If we are not going to allow our forces to respond or act, then lets move them somewhere else. It's like telling a thief that the cop in the corner of the jewelery store is armed, but he won't do anything but take a picture of you.

I wish I was smart enough to understand what is going on over there. I'm so dumb that I expected the captain to be freed by a Seal team, or maybe our guys would each snipe everyone on the lifeboat except the Captain.

After Obama's Excellent European Adventure and Apologies, I'm not suprised he's taking no action.

I hope he has a plan...

You're thoughts are right on. I asked DH about this, you know, "why not?". Essentially, in the US Govt, no one wants to be the person who says yes. I think it's been the hangup for years, offending the international community with aggressive military force.

And you're right, our boys and girls of our military could easily handle a standing order of seek and destroy all pirate vessels.

I would guess once pirate ships started going down in flames they'd evolve to carry hostages (or some plot) before setting out to sea. At the very least, bait the US into "killing innocent civilians" in an effort to create an uproar and turn the tide against action being used against them.

Does our military have to ask that kenyan asshole in the White House every time they have to use the restroom, rescue persons and ships from a bunch of filthy slimeballs? I haven't forgotten them from when the US went over there to feed them, they shot down copters and killed Americans. Perhaps they are his kinsmen ?

didn't we go to Somalia years back and offer medical aid, food, military assistance to keep the piece, and maintain a civility amongst their nation...?

this is the thanks we get...?

Clinton kind of screwed that one up. "Oh, shit! People are dying!? Better get our guys out of there ASAP!"

If it's not worth people dying over, why send in the military in the first place!? I'll never understand that backwards mentality, even though it's pervasive by now.

I'd do the same thing, but it'd only be to make way for the flight of 5,000 B52s loaded with cluster, incendiary, and dumb munitions.

You kill one American, I'll carpet bomb your city with enough firepower to give the Japanese flashbacks.
