I think if SHTF there will be a period of time before the military gear and rifles need to be brandished. I would still want to stay concealed despite upped firepower and capability.

I have a leather computer briefcase with shoulder strap that I can reach into quickly for my loadout gear so this is what I will use.

    On myself-
    -Sig P226 9mm w/TLR-2
-2 spare 18 rd mags 147 gr rangers.
    -ZT 0350 plain edge

    In the bag-
    -3 more loaded spare mags
    -ESEE-5 Fixed Blade
    -SWR trident supressor
-2 extra boxes of ranger 147s
    -Streamlight Handheld
    -monocular or binoculars
    -spare cr123s
    -small 9mm cleaning kit
    -Lighter
    -some paracord

What do yall think? Did I forget anything?

This isn't about bugging out. This is about being out and about post shtf. With a heightened need for protection yet, not a full on warzone.

If I was bugging out I would definately attempt to keep all of my guns, At the very lest all of my handguns.

Don't forget water purification tablets. Or a bottle equipped with a filtration system in it. You'll also need a multi-tool, like a Leatherman. And, if you've got some room in the bag still, add some piano wire or picture hanging cable. And super glue for the first aid kit (works wonders on things that would otherwise cause you to loose lots of blood or need stitches.)

Lots of excellent information and well thought out lists. One question however, if there is a requirement to be stealthy or to not bring attention I would include a silent method of dispatching either foe or food. Now without telling what I have, what would you add to your list?

    -Watch Way of the Gun
    -Decide on a 1911
-Dump pouch or duffle bag with 30 or 40 7rd magazines
    -Realize how much reloading sucks
-Switch to loadout of Glock 17 w/ a handful of mags and be done with it

What!! A girly AR-15? Get yourself a mans gun like an FAL, HK91 or an M1A.

Your 1911 holds 8 rounds my Sig holds 19. I have killed multiple 250+ lb hogs with 9mm. It killed em just fine.
