    GZ,

The link info is quite laudatory regarding this oil, but I've read it's a 'not so good for human consumption' oil'...with such contradictory info (if in fact it is 'info') floating around, it sounds like using it as a quenching oil may it's best use.

For cooking I generally use vegetable oil or olive oil, but we do have a bottle of canola as well. I've heard good and bad about canola, from various sources. Seems like when you consider all the other crap we put in our bodies, it doesn't stand out as a bigger risk...but then again, I try to use as little bottled oil as possible when I cook in the first place.

I recall when COVID first kicked off and everyone panic bought everything at the local walmart: everything in the meat case was gone other than chicken feet and "beyond meat" products. During the most recent freeze when supply shipments were delayed I think 3-4 days again half the store was missing and the fake meat products were fully stocked. Asked one of the stockers acting busy he said they throw out or return about 90% of the fake meat. Its all contracts set by corporate to have minimum inventory of it but it rarely sells. Saw a similar story of KFC or BK or one of the major "buyers" of that crap cancelled the contract because it cost more to throw it out than to pay off the contract cancellation. Never had it and don't want it even though everyone agrees it has an okay taste and texture, but just isn't as good as beef or chicken.

The clincher that really made me never want to try it was it had something along the lines of 10,000 times the phytoestrogens does than a normal 1/4lb hamburger. Phytoestrogens come from plants naturally, primarily soy, but if I couldn't replicate the fake blood or texture by buying actual veggies at a farmers market, whole foods, or even walmart and it must be processed in a lab for production, that tells me all I need to know about it: its poison.

As others said, I'm making a better effort to avoid industrial oils marketed as plant oil. Canola, corn, sunflower, safflower, peanut, and soy is what I'm making a concerted, but not hysterical effort to avoid. Again, canola oil was used for centuries as an inexpensive industrial lubricant. Suddenly it becomes "food" and doctors for decades tell us to avoid things like lard and start using plant oil? Something doesn't make sense to me on that.

I FIND IT IRONIC THAT THEY PUT SO MUCH EFFORT INTO SOMETHING TO MAKE IT TASTE LIKEMEAT!
Not only that, but with all that extra shit they put in it to make it taste and look similar to meat, that makes it more unhealthy than if you just ate real meat in the first place.

Yes, but avocados are nasty, so...yeah.
I was referring to its stuff they put into a bottle to be used that way. I've never seen it but assume it's bottled like other oils. I agree about them being kinda messy in their fruit form to fool with. But in a good guacamole in a Tex Mex joint, is a winner here for us.

Yeah, never been a fan of the green slime. I'll stick to salsa. And I'll send a plate back if they don't believe me when I say "no guacamole". The waiter at Rosie's in Bee Cave a couple of weeks ago forgot to tell them to hold the guacamole. When I waved him down he facepalmed, then grinned and said "So, jou from Oklahoma or somethin'?"

methycellulose is highly processed wood pulp or other plant pulp. Why would you want to eat that.
it prevents clumping in cheese and herbs/spices int he jar. So most people are eating it. Wouldn't want your pre-shredded cheese to be a little clumpy in the package!
