FYI. I listen to a scanner and when they run a DL, they'll come back with the details and also state if the person has a LTC. I highly suspect the first question from the LEO will be "are you carrying"?
BingoSo I cannot legally "Mexican-Carry" or use a Clip-Draw on my belt if I have an LTC in the State of Texas? I call b*******.
I'm not,Some in TX law enforcement are probaly quite upset about permitless carry in Texas. My bet is they are going to try to screw people because they are pissed off that the Constitution was given more credence than their desire for gun control.
Warning for headlight out.Curious if there were any ticket/warning issued?
You can carry open anytime without a holster?CG2300
You posted: "If you are directly enroute to or from your vehicle, residence or shooting range/shop you can carry open, concealed, in or out of a holster."
As far as I know, if I'm an LTC holder I can do the above at any time...no need for the above qualification.
Or, are you referring to the non-LTC holder and their limitations?
Thanks!
Yes, he asked for my documents after my education.Yeah I know that.. I was questions the OP about providing registration
Who told you that? It is common knowledge that LE can do exactly that."For years, I've been told LEO's couldn't access your LTC status unless you tell them. That such information was not on your DL or License Plate. Or, maybe I was misinformed or perhaps misunderstood."
Texas Department of Public Safety (State Troopers) have the ability when they run your license. The CHL/LTC is issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. I was told that the County Deputies, in the larger counties, also have the same information available to them. Not sure about the city cops.

I wish I had recorded it. I was in disbelief. I wanted to make a smart-ass remark, but with my luck I'd have initiated a ride to jail. I had a truck full of guns, I just came from the border, and I give off serious Forrest Gump vibes.Trooper is the one who needs an education.
"all guns must be holstered unless new in their box" holy fucking retard.
Just got stopped by another Trooper a mile from home. He said the other guy was mistaken and that if I had an LTC and the gun was concealed, holster was irrelevant. He also said the range bag/new box thing was incorrect. Cool guy. I hope to see him soon for a gun sale or something.
Sounds like he's full of sh!t. Just think how his local city or county dodged the bullet by him not arresting you. You could have gotten some well deserved money if he had of.I was just pulled over. I notified Trooper that I had guns on me and in the truck(I was gonna test some guns after my driving shift at the border). He told me I was about to get an education. Trooper told me that I couldn't pocket carry. Not in public and not in my truck. I told him I wouldn't be in public if he hadn't made me stand in the street. He said all guns must be holstered unless new in their box. I asked if my range bag was acceptable and he said no. I have an LTC and I'm an LTC instructor, but he said I was wrong. I googled it and even looked at my handbook, but maybe I'm not understanding. I thought only open carried guns needed a shoulder/belt holster?
FYI - The pocket gun was empty. My actual EDC was a holstered VP9SK. Other guns in my range bag were projects.
