    Gunz are icky.
Picked up an older Marlin Model 60.
Need to put a decent scope on it.
Anyone have a recommendation for a low cost scope?
Dont want to put a $300 optic on a $80 rifle.
    4X or better.

I don't recommend mounting on the factory dove tails on the marlin 60. Find an adaptor that uses a set screw to adapt it to a normal rail. The marlin dove tails don't hold zero.

    Not following you.
Are you saying do not mount the scope but mount a rail on the grooved receiver?
    The receiver isn't drilled.

I've got a cheapo 3x9 Bushnell on my .22. Holds zero perfectly, optics are pretty clear. Others have used it as a spotting scope at 50 yards.

I have a Nikon Prostaff 4x on one of my 60's, mounted on the dovetails...love the scope and it has held zero for years of relatively rough use.

Really? Mine will not hold zero on the factory dove tails. I've tried many different rings. The consensus online seems to be, the dove tails are worthless for mounting a scope and holding zero.

Yep, really. I've seen the same said online, but haven't experienced it myself, nor have a couple other people I know with dovetail-mounted scopes on their 60's (one of whose rifle/scope is much older than mine). I will have to test the theory with another 60 of mine, when I get around to purchasing a scope for it.

I highly recommend the Nikon Rimfire, I have 2 of them. They can be bought for around $110

I've owned Trijicon, Weaver, Burris, Tasco, and Nikon. Nikon beat everything but Trijicon in the lenses. The edges of the view and quality of focus beats weaver, by my eyes.

    They're excellent scopes.

    Just noticed this thread.

I have a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire with the EFR reticle on my Savage Mark II F. I think if I had the bull barrel instead of the sporter barrel on that rifle it could put rounds on top of each other.

I have not used others, but I am very happy with this scope. Especially for the money.

Sent from a B-52 flying over Russia.

I had a Nikon Target EFR and really liked it a lot. Unfortunately it's around $190 so may be more than you're looking to spend.

I would think the 2-7X or even the 4X Nikon scopes would be a good option to consider.

Cabela's Pine RIdge scopes are decent. I have a couple on various guns. I've been happy with them, and they very inexpensive. I paid $110 for a deer rifle-type scope. (can't remember the specs)

I've always heard good things about those scopes. Do you happen to know who makes them for Cabelas?
