okay here’s the conundrum. I have two cheaper AR’s one is an AR-15 from DPMS that I bought as a 20” Gun with carry handle because it reminds me of the one I carried in the Air Force. That one stays as is. That’s my memory rifle. Then I built a 16” M4 clone with BCM parts and a Palmetto State upper. It has a bushnell cheaply red dot. This rifle is going to my brother. He’s a newbie and also cheap, so it’s perfect for him. He won’t put 5000 rounds through it in a life time. Now I decided to build a quality M4 carbine. So I bought the BCM upper with the front sight post of course and I’m going to get the BCM lower. I want this to be my training rifle and put lots of rounds through. I want to put a red dot on it. But I don’t want junk. So I thought MRO. Then I thought Aimpoint PRO. Then the cheapie in me started thinking Sig Sauer Romeo 5x. Help!!!!! I want this to be a tough rugged AR that I use the crap out of and I don’t want to make a crappy decision. I was thinking Eotech but I really want long battery life so I never have to turn it off. Suggestion? Part of my conundrum is I don’t want any more AR’s. I’m minimizing my guns to a few that I will use. So this AR needs to be right. Okay I’m listening. Joe
Dong optic makes great cheaper red dots. Got myself a demo off e bay that was $60.00 cheaper & it showed no use.
If you're not making anymore ARs, then make it right. Buy right once, cry once. I typically will budget for optics what I paid for the gun.
You do have a point. Crap I’m spending $1100 on the rifle and if I was just a cheap SOB I could have spent $500.
