What are we looking at ballpark $$$ for parts minus the optics???
I'll add it up when I get home and let you know.
What are we looking at ballpark $$$ for parts minus the optics???
Did you ever finish this toy? If so, let us know how it is and when you're opening your shop for custom work, i've been plotting getting an FAL SA58 para. But if it convinces me that they're crap, i'll save $1300.
It's funny that you bumped this today, I was actually looking into this problem this morning, just hit me out of nowhere that I never addressed it. I'm going to experiment with the next larger size locking shoulder to try and lengthen the headspace a tiny bit. My theory is that, although looser, it will be more consistent how the bolt closes. We'll see.
Is it with the amount of force that the bolt locks in that causes a stress or lack of on the head of the case, causing awkward alignment with the bore center?
What does it take to put one together? When you buy one of these parts kits what do you still need to put it together? To just have a pretty basic FAL? I'm a little confused on the legality of one, is there a definative source (book or manual) that I should invest in? Thanks It looks like fun to build one
and it would be a perfect gun to add to the collection
So whats the deal with the compliance parts, I like things made in the US of course but why? Does the kit not come with the trigger and stock assemblies? (this is just out of curiousity, for my own knowledge) Let me get this right when you order the kit you get a barrel with the stub of an upper reciever attached to it? can the barrel not be "unscrewed"? What else does come with the initial kit? I have access to a lathe. when you say time the barrel do you mean just turn down the face and chase the threads??
Thanks for info on the build too, great thread. Im just a little a behind on the basics
