Northern Cali too. I'm in San Jose right now. From my street view, and driving all over the place, I don't see any more bums than in Austin. Last year I was in Portland - that was a whole different story. I'll report back this weekend. Going to San Francisco Friday.

A conservative Californian is still quite often a left-leaning Texan after they move here. IF one can move here and leave the nanny-state progressiveism behind them, then all is well.

We don't have much choice in where we are born; what truly defines us is our choices after that. I have more in common with Texas, as an Albertan, than any of the other provinces up here in Canada.
