SCOTUS will not take any gun cases, or at least no rule pro on them to avoid getting packed. You did not see them take any of Trumps cases.....
    Oh, come on R.

With only four solid constitutionalists, they passed to avoid Roberts flipping. Now we have five conservatives. I fully expect to see cases heard and pro 2A results.

I have been reading some of the comments saying it isn't going to be that bad and that we survived a democrap regime before. Unfortunately there has never been one quite this bad and socialist that went to the extremes they did getting into power. This isn't your normal democrap party. This is going to be the clinton gun ban on steroids, watch what they start doing to all the gun forums. I have seen this happen, and you just saw what they did to the ar15 forum. They are in the process of shutting down free speech if SCOTUS rules against them they will pad the court with radical judges which there are still a ton of them out there, we just saw that with the cases that were brought to them from the election. It seems that Trump during his speech at the border gave up the good fight, and we can go back and just let them do it, promising we are going to get them in 2022 you just wait and see.

Sadly, I think there is some truth here.

I hope you're right, I really do. But when the refused to hear any of the cases alleging election fraud, I have become doubtful of their intentions now.

Maybe there is a bigger picture than the one I see, and hope that things work out for the best, but again I'm doubtful.

I know Biden has talked a lot about wanting to go after guns hard but I'm not sure how much political capital he wants to spend on it immediately.

I think banning 80% receivers (Ghost Guns dontchaknow) and requiring universal background checks will be two of the easiest to swallow for moderates on both sides so I think those have a good chance of moving forward.

Beyond that, it's hard to really say. There will be a lot of non-gun oriented things that the DNC will be looking to do in the next two years. Tax code changes, additional COVID relief, focusing on vaccine distributions, climate change related legislation and the like.

If/when the next mass shooting comes along, then we will see a reinvigorated push toward additional gun control.

I do expect on the executive side we will see additional import bans and an increased focus on enforcement by the ATF and other Federal agencies.

The tech companies further shutting down pro-gun channels/sites/commerce are my biggest immediate concerns.

I have no hope for the Republicans to do anything meaningful in the interim. Jan 6th effectively neutered the ability for them to generate an opposition. They are going to tuck their tail between their legs like they always do.

Maybe we will finally get some legal wins. I think that's about the only hope we have and that doesn't look so great.

Exactly why they may pack the court right away.

This is where I think the grand compromise could be made. D’s get UBC and serialized/FFL transfer of 80% recievers/frames in return for GCA, FOPA, NFA going away and subject instead to the UBC at point of purchase. Probably won’t be able to get away from registry of current NFA items, but speed the goddämn process up if you, in the words of Clayton Williams, want me to lean back and enjoy getting raped.

    The Democrats will see this.

    Do this:

"D’s get UBC and serialized/FFL transfer of 80% recievers/frames in return for GCA, FOPA, NFA going away and subject instead to the UBC at point of purchase."

And say "You're welcome for compromising."

In our country's current form, I don't expect we will ever see any significant advancement for gun owners to come from the legislature.

I would watch Virginia, the governor stopped short of sending a modern equivalent of Black Dave into the Shenandoah Valley against all the sheriff's and shelved the idea. He might bring this back up with JOHO&Co now in charge and decide to send some sort of ersatz UNSSU out into the country to enforce his laws, if so I would say things are going to get bad.

I subscribe to the Ron White theory of making lemonade: when life gives you lemons, find the guy who’s life is giving him vodak.

If history has shown anything, it's that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The Dems will agitate into a lot of in-house fighting between themselves - they can't help it..
This is about power - it just comes down to who has it, who wants and what are they willing to do to keep it, get it and how ruthless do they have to be. Cooperation is not in their mind-set.

We've seen plenty of examples of liberals/socialists/fascists fighting each other to see who's the "wokest-of-the-woke". Oh, they'll play nice to start with; but the first time there's even a slight disagreement, the knives (figuratively speaking) will come out. Then you'll see them at their worst.

The amount of blood-letting may well be historical. My hope is they implode with an atomic vengeance on each other. Once they're occupied with that Armageddon, maybe we escape with not much damage to our civil rights.

This battle and blood scenario worsens considerably if Harris manages to force Biden into early retirement. Can you imagine how Pelosi and Harris will rip each other's guts to be the head honcho in charge?

A man can still dream, can't he?

Then again, we could all be in the Matrix generating voltage for our alien or mechanical overlords.

Other than that; first post to TGT. Glad to be here.
