I did alittle reloading 300blk when i had my 300blk ar. I didnt get to do much round development. But ill put in the little i learned. Some 223/556 brass is thick and will jam if converted to 300blk and it is a pain to unjam thick walled brass.

Yeah, I'm sticking to cases known to work. That's why I used LC. I have some Remington brass that seems to work also.

Might drop it to 1.95 and see what you get, then adjust powder.

Less powder means less gas for the can to deal with. Also, less excess case volume will give more consistent velocities.

I'll try that. Hopefully I can get out to the range again this weekend and try it out. If not I'll try it at Hicksville.

I do have one lb of 1689. I'm saving it for the inevitable day that I get an AR.

Do you run that Red Dot load through a can? If so, is it quieter than other loads?

Sorry, that was a typo... it should be 1680.
I am using a can to shoot the Red Dot through. Seems to stay a little cleaner with the Red Dot since it is a 100% burn before leaving the muzzle. I'm using a Huntertown 30 caliber can and have found the report to be less then other loads I have tried.

Orbitup, what is the issue you are having with the 150gr X-treme plated bullets?
I use them also for cheap 300BLK subs for practice and plinking. Are you having accuracy issues or velocity problems?

I'm on my iPad at the moment but will pull up my load data from the PC in the morning.

I only shot at 25 yards and it was okay. Of course the first Trailboss shot (409fps) was low.

I posted the chono data in my OP. Velocities were all over the place. What powder are you using?

Red Dot with them also. Velocity is pretty consistent with it. I'll post that load for you also in the morning.

Orbitup not telling you anything you don't know but it looks like the 150gr may be the problem. Maybe the load is less compressed/case less full?

I'd would be more inclined to look at the powder being used as the issue. Case fill should never go below at least 50% as you can run the risk of secondary detonation. Burn rate is also important. For subsonics I have found that fast powders are best. I'll run some of his load info he posted through Quick Load and see what it looks like tomorrow.

You have to worry about cycling and I don't so some of this info won't work for you but from what I've read, the H4198 load might do the trick. Also 4227 is supposed to be really quiet. If I can get my hands on some I will try it out too. If you find something that works well with any of those powders I will definitely be interested in the results.

For my Handi with 16.25" barrel:

    150gr Xtreme
    COL: 2.015
    Powder: 4.3gr Red Dot
    100% burn / 1100fps

If you want to use your Trailboss:

    150gr Xtreme
    COL: 2.050
    Powder: 5.5gr Trailboss
    100% burn / 1047fps

I'm loading for ~340 feet above sea level where I am so your speeds may change slightly depending on temp/humidity/elevation you are shooting at.

I don't use cut down .223/5.56 brass, I stick with 300BLK brass for consistency. If SHTF and I needed brass I am setup to cut down .223, but that would be the only time.
I use only CCI 400 for my 300BLK.
The problem with Trailboss and a 208gr AMAX is that in order to get the bullet to a point where it will reliably stabilize, you end up with a compressed load.
Your H110 with a 208gr A-Max loaded with 8.6gr at COL 2.180 should get you right around 1062fps with a 90% burn rate and a 56% case fill.
The 4227 with a 208gr A-Max loaded with 8.8gr at COL 2.180 should get you around 1064fps with an 85% burn rate and a 67% case fill.

I ran those based on a 16" barrel. I have not loaded these myself so don't know how they will cycle.
