Back when I had the occasional need to report to the Federal District Court that someone had failed to follow orders, the Marshals had a fun habit of picking up the offenders on Friday afternoons. No Federal judge is going to come back to work over the weekend for a contempt hearing. Thus, the person who blew off the order got to spend an entire weekend in the Harris County lockup before seeing the judge. Most were, after that, in a mood to comply.

I imagine the Bankruptcy courts are more lenient. (In fact, I know they are.) But we can dream, I suppose.

Jeremy Alcede was on the Matt Patrick Show on Radio 950 at 2:30 today talking about the detainment. His claim was that he was unaware of the bench warrant had been issued, and thought he was in compliance. He seemed willing to answer any questions about it.

It was unreal, and no wonder he went bankrupt.
