Have a 1st Gen 709 that my dogs chewed up. It still shoots well. Hate the trigger though, has to be pulled way far before it breaks. It does not have enough value to be worth selling. That's a big problem in buying a Taurus. No resell value

We have a pair of TCP738s. One with 800 rounds and the other with 1400 rounds. No issues and super reliable ONLY if using Fiocchi ammo. Moved on to prettier handguns for concealed carry but they're stashed about the place in case we need them.

I can’t say I recall having ever seen a Taurus on the rental line anywhere.

Not that there’s anything’s wrong with that, but makes me wonder why/why not.

First Taurus I got was a PT 24/7 Pro DS .45 cal. Yes..all that is written on the slide. Plus they put TAURUS everywhere they possibly could. Made in 2010 or 11. It was a gift. I actually never heard of Taurus before then. First mag through it was a complete failure. Every round was a failure to feed. After that mag, it's shot many many trouble free rounds. Even used it for my LTC course. Don't shoot it much anymore but I won't be selling it.

PT22. Bought it on sale for barely over $100 at academy. Apparently people didn't like the bright yellow frame. Doesn't like bulk golden bullet 22 ammo. Loves everything else though. First gun I carried with my LTC. (We've all been poor before, right?)

PT111 G2. Made in 2016. Wife's gun. She used it for her LTC. Shoots perfectly. Never a single malfunction.

PT1911. Made in 2017. Shot less than 100 rounds through it the whole time I had it. Never had a problem with it. Couldn't pass up an even trade for a CZ P07.

One constant when it comes to Taurus non-copy handguns: their triggers SUCK. The PT111 is best out of the ones I own. You can't put the 1911 or a PT92 in this group as they are copies and not Taurus designed guns so their triggers are fine.

If a Taurus is all someone can afford and they, for whatever reason, hate Ruger, they could do worse.

Different opinions. Personally i have a taurus m92 ( copy of beretta 92) and it has been 100% reliable to me. That gun and most ( not all of their 1911's) i have heard good things about. It seems different wehn you talk about their polymer guns and revolvers.

I'm another rossi fan who has only shot a couple of Taurusii in my time. My Rossi 1892 chambered in 45 LC has been a wonderfully reliable and fairly accurate rifle.

In the past I shot a friends millenium chambered in 40 cal and shot it almost as well as my cz75 although I didn't love the overall grip and feel of the gun.

Recently, I bought an 85 series snubby. On my first outing I experienced a few failures to fire in SA mode. Cocked hammer, pulled trigger then Nada. When it would happen, I slowly cocked back the hammer and rode it down safely with my thumb. Pulled trigger again in DA mode and it went bang every time. I chalked it up to a burr or other internal imperfection. Next outing I fired it in mostly DA and it ran like it should.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I was running it back in SA mode on some steel plates. Didn't make it through 20 rounds or so and had a delayed hammer drop. In addition to missing the target, it really crushed my confidence in the gun. Shameful really since it's one of the most accurate snubbies I've ever fired.

I'm sure I will pull it apart and fiddle around with it. It probably is a burr or some loose material floating around in it. On the plus side I bought it during a $40 rebate period and I've only invested about $170 in it plus xfer fees. Overall, the "get what you pay for" rule definitely applies, at least to the newest generation of guns they produce.

    I own a PT738 and PT145CA (DAO)

Soon after I got it the 738 the recoil spring guide rod broke and locked up the gun. They sent me a new rod though it took a couple tries for them to send the correct part. This despite my clearly identifying what I needed from the parts diagram to the customer service rep. After that I found out their magazines were REALLY a wear item. After about 200rds they would stop taking their capacity and got progressively worse until around 400rds they were useless. The rounds were moving forward under recoil and really dimpling the front of the mag which was causing the follower to get hung up. Taurus sent me two replacement mags as well as a few free spares. Recently the lug on the barrel broke but I haven't contacted them on it yet. Regards the mag issue, I have shot that pistol more then most people would ever do in a lifetime of ownership and would thus never see the problem I had.

On the 145 I can see the slide is impacting the frame but it hasn't caused a function issue as of yet.

That being said I have also had issues with weapons from:
    Colt
    Kimber
    Ruger
    Mossberg
    Keltec
    Winchester
    Escort

So brand is no guarantee of being problem free.

I also have a Rossi M92 in 44Mag that has stopped fully extracting but am not going to deal with it until I fully move to AZ in case they need to send me a replacement rifle.

I have a PT111 Millennium Pro 9mm and have at least a thousands rounds (probably more even though I don't shoot it much anymore) through it without one ftf or jam. Maybe I have been lucky. I know some guys with the G2 version and they have had some issues.

Just got the confirmation of them receiving my gun for repair.
I can't believe the service time...

    Update on the Taurus:
I forgot about the gun, called last week to see why I never heard back from them.( I think it's been 5 months)
Pretty much they lost my gun or never started to work on it so they're sending me a new gun to my FFL.
:)) Anyone looking to buy a brand new never fired taurus tracker in 357?
I'm ready to get me a Smith and Wesson.

newbie to this forum, but not to guns, having enjoyed shooting clay pigeons in the Boy Scouts ...I got my own first firearm when I moved to Htown mainly for home protection & my second a Benelli Ethos with which I thought I could mod for home, but this seems a SIN after seeing how well wrought this 12 gauge is and PERFECT for shooting sport clay pigeons.

My first gun jammed after not using it for years & taking it out on the range (Beretta 95 Parabellum, I think) & in my efforts to get it fixed, I came across a marvelous gunsmith, who surprisingly is within a healthy walk from where I now live in Midtown. This fine man advised me to ship the Beretta to the US factory & get a Taurus Judge (though he said don't quote him, as many will think he has lost his marbles!) He gave his reasons & from what I have gleaned from loads of looking, the Judge seemed a better deal than the somewhat larger SW, at least from Academy where I compared the two. I believe the Judge antedated the Governor, but of this I am not certain. What I love is its ability to hold 5 rounds & rapid loaders are on order.

Although only an occasional shooter, I do enjoy time at the ranges, but I know complex devices well. The Judge sells because Taurus designed it well, ammo is amazing in choices for it & its simplicity speaks for its reliability. This model is built to last, even though I got a poly version, which I got for a great price with the pretty sights thrown in the deal.

It is large for a carry, but I intend to practice with the long Colts & take the test with it, though I would be wiser to take my venerable Beretta once back in my eager hands. I'll take her out for a spin, but now I'm keeping the Judge in my court as my go to home defense weapon.

Midtown Htown (where I live now) gentrifying, but still with many folks holding out & off the grid, which may be why I love it.

Interesting that your first post publicizes your inexperience, specifics of your small gun collection, your home address; and, that you chose this particular forum for it.

    Good Luck,
