One interesting fact about the B52 Stratofortress, not one of them has ever been lost in enemy combat.
17 were lost in combat during Vietnam, most to surface-to-air missiles, one to a MiG-17. In return, three B-52's shot down MiG-21s with their tailguns.

"In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrate that bromelain exhibits various fibrinolytic, antiedematous, antithrombotic, and anti-inflammatory activities. Bromelain is considerably absorbable in the body without losing its proteolytic activity and without producing any major side effects. Bromelain accounts for many therapeutic benefits like the treatment of angina pectoris, bronchitis, sinusitis, surgical trauma, and thrombophlebitis, debridement of wounds, and enhanced absorption of drugs, particularly antibiotics. It also relieves osteoarthritis, diarrhea, and various cardiovascular disorders. Bromelain also possesses some anticancerous activities and promotes apoptotic cell death."

I must have it mixed up with some other aircraft.

The SR-71 had well over a thousand SAMs fired at it as well as hundreds of intercept attempts during its years of service, including missions over Vietnam. It was never touched.

And now, as Paul Harvey would say, the rest of the story...

The SR-71 was never touched by enemy defenses in its career, owing not only to its speed, but to frequently updated electronic countermeasures intended to defeat enemy radar, and its inherently (and accidentally) stealthy shape and the heat-dissipating iron ball paint it was coated with, which also (by coincidence) did a bit of radar dissipation.

Its predecessor, the A-12, was a single seat aircraft very similar to the SR-71 save for the lack of a rear cockpit, a fuselage that was about six feet shorter, and a lighter weight owing to the lack of a second crewman (in the SR-71, this was the Reconnaissance Systems Operator, a workload that fell to the pilot of the A-12). As a consequence of the weight savings, the A-12 was actually slightly faster and had a slightly higher service ceiling than its offspring. Still, during the A-12's short career with the CIA, it was touched just once by an enemy SAM.

It was early on, one of the first times surface to air missiles had been encountered by American combat aircraft. The A-12 had some electronic countermeasures, but the exact nature of the threat over North Vietnam wasn't quite understood. While photographing SAM sites near the north/south border in Vietnam on October 30th, 1967, CIA pilot Dennis Sullivan saw six missile contrails in his rear-view mirror topping out around 100,000 feet and arcing over toward him. He saw three of them detonate behind him, one within 200 yards of the aircraft. Six contrails also showed up on some of his reconnaissance photos.

On landing, one small piece of shrapnel was found to have penetrated the A-12's wing and lodged near the fuel tank. Of course, had the fuel tank been pierced by the shrapnel it's still likely that no major damage would have occurred - the J58 engines used JP-7 jet fuel, which won't ignite under 140 degrees F, even if a burning match is dropped into a bucket of it.

Back in the day up through the 50's and early 60's IIRC, some automatic transmissions had two pumps, one at the front of the trans and one at the rear. This rear pump driven by the output shaft allowed these vehicles to be push started by pushing the car to around 20 mph, turning the ignition on and putting the transmission into low.

A ducks quack does not echo
Yes it does. My mother used to own mallard ducks (my idiot sister bought them for her, thinking they'd be great with the chickens) and our land had a gulley with a creek bed at the bottom. Those stupid bastards quacked all day and all night, echoing off the hills and driving everyone nuts.
