The 2015 Legislative Session has a two proposed bills that allow Open Carry. There may be more before the session is over.

Problem isn't the anti gun crowd.

The problem is a vocal group of gun owners who are too embarrassed to fight for the rights that the 2nd Amendment grants us.

This is a RIGHTS issue. The 2nd Amendment grants us the right to keep and BEAR arms.

I'm calling out the wishy washy gun owners, who are afraid to let their pride in the Constitution show, to stop looking for Christmas presents and 22lr in the back of their closet, come out and support TX 2nd Amendment Rights this session by supporting all the legislation that furthers our 2nd Amendment Rights including OC.

OC, and other legislation concern our RIGHTS.

You support the right to keep and bear arms and will fight for these rights or you don't.

This isn't a TACTICAL or Personal Preference discussion.

45 acp vs 9mm, Shotgun vs Carbine, Open Carry vs Concealed Carry are examples of TACTICAL Decisions or PERSONAL Preferences.

The confusion between Rights, Tactical and Personal Preferences is dividing our house and we are not presenting a unified front.

The problem is Joe Strauss.. Unless we can get him defeated in the Speaker of the House election it doesn't matter how verbal gun owners are in their desire for the bills to pass.

Meet The Harry Reid Of Texas - Forbes

He will get an anti gun liberal put in charge of the committees he needs in order to block the bills. Calendar Committee Chair and Homeland Security Chair will be liberal republicans or democrats again.

Interesting. I suppose I forgot that the Lt Gov only appoints on the Senate side.

Hmmmm. How can Rep Straus be shown the light? Tea Party challenger perhaps?

One would think if Rep Straus wants to hitch his wagon to the Abbott/Patrick star then he might warm up to what they want...

The Strauss issue was created because Republicans could not agree on a leader. So ALL Dems backed Strauss, and the RINOS also backed him, giving him more votes than the Conservative Republicans. Thus he was elected. Hopefully they have a strategy to prevent this from happening again.

How is this Straus fellow the problem? He was just filling a role. Sounds like lack of GOP leadership was the problem.
As Speaker of the House he controls committee appointments, chairmen, and Calendars, which determines which bills get scheduled and assigned to committees. Basically, nothing gets done in the House unless the Speaker wants it to be. Strauss is a RINO and a huge problem for us with respect to gun rights generally and OC specifically. We'll see if Abbott and/or Patrick can bring him in line.

I understand that. But how does the Speaker of the House get that position? He is elected. Obama is a radical socialist. He got elected. I dont just blame the one person for being what they are and doing what they do...I blame those who put them there.

Well, he got elected in his district then cobbled enough Dem and RINO support to get elected Speaker once he got there. It's very difficult to unseat a sitting Speaker once they are there. I don't know, we'll see what happens but I won't hold my breath.

RINOs can stay on that path and get ran over by the Tea Party or come to see the light.

They just need to look around and see where their RINO buddies lost their positions to Tea Party candidates.

There will be some that go down with the ship though.

I guess we could all put pressure by emailing and bombarding his phones with calls. Like Breaking said, at some point he has to realize that many of his fellow RHINOS lost their jobs because they weren't doing the will of the people.

Well, if we want to look for positives, OC has never received this level of positive attention prior to a session that I can recall, and that's basically thanks to Abbott. So maybe he truly does want to make it a priority.
