Embarrassing to say the least We can't get any type of Constitutional Carry when MS and AR, just got it also. There is only a few states now without some form of Open Carry and Texas is in that group that includes CA, IL, NY, and FL . Will we ever see this?

I would need to do more looking in to what the laws are with other states concerning OC before I grouped Texas in with California.

Do you have a link or article that shows which states have OC and the laws regulating it?

Yes, I'm too lazy to look it up my self and busy with some other stuff right now.

California used to allow UNLOADED open carry, now they don't. Texas allows several forms of open carry of a handgun.

Your premise that Texas is like CA, IL ad NY is false.

True that. You can lay a 50cal across the dash your truck. Have ar's in every window. Two shotguns mounted on the floor. While going through a beer barn. At the age of 21, in a 80 thousand dollar, F350. God Bless my state.

Texas is like ca? Thats BULLSHIT. Some of us kinda have a deep pride in Texas. Please don't insult our state by a comparing it to CA.

I can OC a handgun all over my property. No Go in CA.

I'm sorry, but there is really no comparison between TX and CA gun laws.

We know who blocked OC from getting a vote.

    Truth hurts guys.
Texas is not leading the way. Not even in the money.
I love her as much as anyone, but there's work to be finished.

OC in public would be great, like most the rest of the states. OCing in my yard, my house, at the range or out on hunting land and a friend's BBQ is fabulouus, until I have to go into public. Same argument as the thread with the bill changing the language in 46, means bologna until I can carry OC where I currently carry CC.

You guys all know this. If a Texan can't carry OC where s/he can carry CC, then we are like other states that have the same laws.

It's not that I believe Texas is leading the charge. I would love to have OC and full constitutional carry.

However, comparing Texas laws to those in CA, IL, or NY is a huge stretch. It's comparing Texas to states where it is almost impossible to even get a concealed carry license, on of which had is only allowing it due to a court ruling.

I hear what you're saying and I agree. It one of those comparisons that start with, "Well technically..."

Texas will probably never get OC and IMHO it is due in part to this:

"Austin isn't the only Texas city attracting people. Eight of 15 fastest-growing U.S. cities are in Texas. Major cities to make the list: Houston at fourth, San Antonio at seventh, and Dallas at ninth."

I too would like to see OC but I can't see it happening because of our major metro areas. I constantly deal with visitors from out-of-state and I'm not kidding to say that they really expect to see horses on city streets. Yep, I know it happens in rural areas but not in our larger cities.

Hell, even though it doesn't get talked about, Texas is still so much a part of the old "Bible Belt" we can't even get close to casino gambling. Back before Dog and Hose Racing got legalized depending on which side the fence you were on it was either going to trash the moral fiber of everybody in Texas or make everybody in the two industries and state government rich. Don't think it has done either.

Just the ramblings of an old man.

Who are you calling dummies? Your OP was wrong.

You do not know Texas law.

Constitutional carry is not the same as open carry.
