How long has Constitutional carry been languishing in Austin?
How long has Constitutional carry been languishing in Austin? I can go back to Dec of 2016 that says it was about to pass in Texas. We have seen other states pass us by. How long do you have to play political footsie before you get tired of it?
The power battles between the Speaker and the Lt Gov have gotten old. Ever since Perry politicized a large part of the functional government of Texas, the Speaker has decided to distance themselves farther and farther from state party and state leadership priorities.Tell me how YOU would make it get passed.
Tell me how YOU would make it get passed.
As a member of TSRA, AND actively involved - I can assure you that CC IS a priority. What you have to remember is that we have to work with the representatives YOU folks send to Austin - and many of 'em get vapors when you say the word "armed citizen". We can have YEARS of good PR destroyed with ONE dumb act - or one PRESENTED that way by a legislator intent on derailing CC, as we saw in the most recent session. The fight ISN'T over - and I'm hoping that others will do as I am - actively seeking out GOOD pro-2nd candidates and supporting their campaign efforts with $$$, even if they don't serve our area.
Tell me how YOU would make it get passed.
Since the GOA now has a representative in Austin I support them in every way possible. I also support TXGR. Those 2 are the only ones, that I know of, that are actually fighting for CC in Texas.
TSRA is a NRA puppet and as such they do not want CC. The TSRA refuses to work with any pro-gun organization, they don't want the competition. They have actually been hindering the efforts of the other pro-gun organizations! A good example of this is the lies that TSRA was, and still is, telling about McNutt.
I not only applaud you for that, I encourage you to do so even more.
You're wrong - but you're convinced otherwise, so I won't attempt to dissuade you. Many of us have met with other pro-2nd groups, but there are times that the methodology differs - and at that point, we diverge. We have a line we won't cross - others won't agree with that, and that's okay.
I'm TSRA - and I've told NO untruths about McNutt. I DID hold judgement until the bodycam footage came out, and in my mind that not only vindicated what he'd said all along, it laid bare the untruths that Bonnen had presented - and that was shared amongst a number of TSRA members.
Tell me - what lies are TSRA telling with regard to McNutt - and when? I'm not talking about the initial reports - some people relied on Bonnen's side of the story (which I felt was a mistake - but he IS an elected state official, so his story SHOULD have been accurate). I'm a bit more cynical.... Further, there has been internal discussion about those initial comments, and concern about how it was all handled. If there's things currently being said, I'd like some documentation of it - not because I'm "calling you out" on it, but because it's apparently gotten by me - and I'll happily run it back up the chain to address it.

I sent some money to another Texas pro-gun organization that hasn't thrown Texans under the bus.Tell me how YOU would make it get passed.

I think the email TSRA/Alice sent out after the incident is linked in another thread here on TGT. Maybe someone can search for it. I'm going to bed now. I'll check tomorrow. If the initial email is not linked, maybe I can search for it in my email. I know her responses to my questions are listed here in another thread. It was clearly against McNutt and in favor of Bonnen. Sure YOU are the TSRA. So am I and some of the others here as well BUT I link TSRA/Alice together because she was the one that sent the email out on behalf of the TSRA. Basically the association backed the wrong side and then once more info. came out not only did not apologize for it but didn't even make a correction to the initial email sent out.
To a member such as myself, THAT is a problem. I am surprised you are not aware of that email TSRA sent out.
I do have an idea get rid of Bonwell and the other hinderance Dan Patrick. Let's bring the bill to the floor and vote on it. My State Representative is James White who filed HB 1911 for Constitutional Carry. I write to him on these issues. I also joined Texas Gun Rights who is doing a full-court press for Constitutional carry and are not paying footsie with Bonwell under the table while giving lip service to Constitutional Carry. That sounds like an idea of how to do it to me. I am not sure of the Constitutional Carry position of Senator Nichols. I will be corresponding with him. Sounds like a plan to me.IOW, you don't have an idea how to do it = but you're not going to pass by a chance to toss out an insult. Classy.

Reading my TSRA magazine, I note that Alice Tripp's summary of her visit to the national NRA shindig didn't even mention the growing anti-LaPierre sentiment.
Makes me wonder if the TSRA is really "representing" us nationally, or if they are among the NRA's LaPierre sycophants?
Until now, I have always had great respect for the TSRA.
