That is correct, he told them they could "react", but warned them not to move, prior to killing Abraham.

Then, Darryl punched him, and he killed Glenn, instead of doing what he actually warned them what he would do.

I don't know that it has, although I seem to recall on some Zombie show, that birds who had eaten their flesh turned.

That's right.

Well, we didn't see the pigs prior to slaughter, after eating the zombies, although they sure appeared nice and pink.

My take is they don't care either way, and instead are faced with the true reality of the situation they are in. They have to produce or else, and it's too costly to fatten the pigs on their own crops. You can't give half of your food to Negan, and split the remaining half on feeding pigs, while keeping your own people alive. Fattening the pigs on walkers is being done out of necessity.

At least towards the end some of the BS is explained but it still was all drama crap and a BS episode dealing with Carol yet again and again and again and ..... bah. I'm screwed since I paid for the season on the show and should have gone one episode at a time.
