Me, my little brother, and the folks are going up to Bonito Lake next weekend to do some trout fishing. (We need a break especially with my aunt being in the hospital and all)

I was wondering about taking my gun on the trip? Is it legal illegal?

I have no CHL so this is strictly car carry.

Thanks in advance.

Gun in car is legal in NM very much as it is under TX law. See this url (scroll down to find the part that applies to non-chl) http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/newmexico.pdf

Bonito Lake is nice though it's been a bit dry in the area. Good luck with the trout (easy place to get a non-resident temporary fishing license is Western Auto in Ruidoso) and I hope your family gets the break you need.
