Really can’t do that
I will have to check it out at some point. I have heard theres Pickerel in Austin and Smelts as well. I heard fried or baked smelts are great.I do believe the waters of places like the tail race of canyon lake dam have trout year round due to the depth of the lake. I have never tried it
Maybe cause that's disgusting?Out of curiosity but how often is Rainbow Trout or any non sea trouts are served in a sandwich or in general in Texas. I usually don't see Rainbow Trout on any menus in SATX. But still wanting to find places that serve trout.
You can keep both. Too many bones in pickerel and smelt are smelly. Both are good for bait. I don’t eat baitI will have to check it out at some point. I have heard theres Pickerel in Austin and Smelts as well. I heard fried or baked smelts are great.
Catfish=no! Trout=Good stuff!Catfish is Texan for trout.
Generally not a catfish fan. But the local VFD fish fries make it taste good, plus free beerCatfish=no! Trout=Good stuff!
I have often wondered if fire departments have some secret ingredients in their fish batter. It seems their fried fish is always good regardless of what kind it is.Generally not a catfish fan. But the local VFD fish fries make it taste good, plus free beer
Nope. It’s saltpeter.I have often wondered if fire departments have some secret ingredients in their fish batter. It seems their fried fish is always good regardless of what kind it is.
Maybe the beer is the secret!
I know the secret but am bound by the secret oath And It ain’t saltpeter. That goes in the deer sausageNope. It’s saltpeter.
I wouldn't want to eat pickerel though I hear they put up a good fight and easy catches with a spoon or inline spinner bait. Also can be caught on smelts.You can keep both. Too many bones in pickerel and smelt are smelly. Both are good for bait. I don’t eat bait
Oddest thread ever on TGT.
You can say that again.I dunno, that 30superfreak thread has gone pretty sideways.
Makes sense. Though I will say deep fried catfish with some cabbage and habanero sauce in a corn or flour tortilla is pretty good.Fish sandwiches aren't really a Texan thing. I had a nice smoked salmon sandwich in Scotland, though...
