What is the best (& easiest/cheapest) way to get good TV reception without a box?

Willing to pay extra for simplicity.

I have a 42" TV in a spare bedroom, but no cable box in there, been like that for ~2 yrs.
The tv was purchased solely for gaming on.
I don't want to make it too inviting for the kids if they should want to move back in, lol.
I would like for people visiting to be able to watch TV in there, maybe I'll just get another cable box.

Can't you just put a splitter on your cable connection and run one line to the box and one to the other room. Maybe be a bit of a hassle but it will work.

How about these "tv reception with no cable box" items?
    Anybody ever tried them.

I don't feel rabbit ears would be good enough reception, & using a splitter would require getting in the attic & I am too lazy.

I have some X-10 stuff and have found the the wireless stuff they offer is good if you are line of sight and about 10 feet away. The light control is not bad. It is kinda the low end remote control stuff. IMO

    I have wireless internet.
Any more involved questions would need to be answered by my personal installer, he is on the forum as well.

    ;)

I have a $10 digital antenna from a mail-order place (Meritline) I can get OK reception of HD broadcast channels. These are the ones you had before the digital switch. Also these broadcast channels are offering a huge number of channel+1,2,3,4,5 stations. Most are in Chinese or Mexican, but some are for the real American viewer people too. Of course the broadcast channels had little to offer before and nothing new now. The sub-channels offer even less. That TV collects more dust than use. I'm in the Houston area. I believe in an English speaking America, if that bothers you, ignore me, please.
