I said "supposedly" because I don't really trust them after they said I have clogged cardiac arteries and the angiogram was clean.

I can't remember what tests were done for that.
I was told I had a DVT ( sonogram ). Put me on Coumadin and a Coumadin diet for a year. Would not let me get on a horse( I even offered to wear on of those damn helmets ). After a year I go in for a nuclear stress test ( to see if it was OK to start working out ). Specialist in the Cardiologist office says I never had a DVT. Get a second opinion.

Conflicting medical info from docs can be soooooooo frustrating!!!

I don't get the connection with the nuc stress test and dvt diagnosis. They are in no way related. I don't know how often a dvt completely resolves, but if it does then it is gone. A thrombus is easy to see with US.

I imagine that is why the doc ordered a stress test and an echocardiagram.

Like I said, same road I went down before, the last time I complained about exercise induced chest pain and shortness of breath.

Personally, I think I need to see a pulmonologist, but time will tell.
It can be frustrating for a patient. Like your case. Symptoms, health history, test indicates there is likely coronary disease etc. We cath you. Hey, great news, your arteries are clean. You, then why am I having these symptoms? We don't know, but it's not your arteries. A lot of medicine is about eliminating the worst case scenarios.

Actually, the only connection is that the cardiologist wanted to clear me before he gave me the stress test. I had to take a sonogram of my heart and leg with his nurses. His DVT specialist is the one who told me that I had never had a DVT. Now that I recall, the hospital originally diagnosed me with a doupler instrument after I complained of calf pain while in the rehab facility. I remember the wooshing sound now.

I would like to start a thread for people who are pre-diabetic or have Type 2 and let people share advice for diet and other ways to reduce or reverse this terrible disease.

I read this today and thought it would be a good idea.

I'm game for discussing any with anyone!

The doctor is absolutely correct. Also the sooner you address high blood sugar the SOONER you prevent damage to micro and macro vasculature. One of the most common causes of blindness is UNTREATED hyperglycemia..

Sounds that you misunderstood something; or, that your health care folks are less than honest.

An “EKG” is not a test for atherosclerosis per-se.

Some hospital-driven medical practices intentionally over-test. Find a Doc who is interested in your personal & family History, especially recent symptoms.

    .
An EKG can be used to differentiate between certain types of angina... angima of course, whether stable or unstable are the result of atherosclerosis... the exception being Prinzmetal agina..

I didn't misunderstand the doc at all. She said, "the EKG indicates you have clogged cardiac arteries".

    That's a damn clear statement.
Well.. exercised induced chest pain is an indication of angina.. and angina usually is the result of narrowed arteries due to atherosclerosis..

If you dont mind my asking, what are you taking to address the chest pain ?

Exercised induced chest pain (anginal pain) isnt always associated with clogged coronary arteries. There is prinzmetal angina.. vasospasms of the coronary arteries.. this is usually treated with calcium channel blockers...

”DVT’s” are mostly transient and silent. I know of no way that any “specialist” could accurately determine that you “never had a DVT”.

Sometimes technologists overestimate their own capabilities. Other times they oversimplify to communicate.

Today’s medicine often involves many “specialized” technician helpers who have very, very narrow educations; this is why they must be supervised constantly.

Also, Physicians make mistakes, and many “Cardiologists” are prone to over-estimating their own importance, especially in non-heart areas.

I take any kind of exercise, like mowing the lawn, very slow... one lap around the yard, then rest til symptoms get better. Or lift dog to couch, then rest.

Since it's not resting angina, I don't take meds for it.

I'll have to look that up.

But I take every kind of blocker I know of... beta, calcium, etc.

Right now, I'm on amlodipine, but in the past I have taken nifedipine.

My kidney doc manages my BP meds. Some meds I take are not so great for kidneys/liver.

My cardiologist was 2hrs away over snow covered roads... i changed to a local cardio but can't get in until June.

If moderate exercise results in anginal pain, check to see if the doctor is open to consider prophylactic treatments prior to exercise...

I'm only interested in salads during hot weather. 'Cept spinach salad.

Eat less would work for me... salad diet, uhmmmm, NO!
