Ms Biden went 50 yds into Ukraine. We now eliminated steel tariff on Ukraine steel, after the steel plant is destroyed. Putin claimed west was ready to invade Russia - before he attacked. "World War Three is "more realistic" and "more probable" than Vladimir Putin gracefully accepting defeat to Ukraine" per Ru TV.
I don't want our 'boots on the ground' either but an 'initial solution' vs what may come are equal except for the destruction of Ukraine. Politician doodle while Rome burns.

So true. And re: oil, the situation got a lot worse for them a few days ago. To wit:

I was waiting for him to touch on nat. gas. This morning in a meeting we were discussing investments and market predictions, and the analyst's feel was that Europe will cave on gas towards the late fall. They'll have little choice but to pay Putin in Rubles for gas because they don't have the infrastructure to import it, as they have little capacity to gassify LNG.

If we were going to strike we should have (and I do think we should have) done so early on. At this point, if we have to put boots on the ground for some reason I would rather Russia continue to be weakened for as long as possible before any American lives are put at risk.

I also think when he threatened nukes we should have immediately broadcast to the world “If he attempts to use any nuclear weapons he will be countered with full nuclear retaliation resulting in the complete annihilation of Russia”. But our leaders have no balls to call a bluff.

While he was dem, JFK didn't dry up and blow away when nikita khrushchev started bloviating about nuking us.

    The MAD doctrine still applies.

They nuke - we nuke - and the world as we know it...ends.

    Pyrrhic victory's aren't victory's...

pootin's tossing around nuke threats smells of bitter desperation...chunk one nuke and it's over pooty-boy...

^^^ yup. How much is Moscow/Tivol and St. Petersburg worth to RU? Their LNG tanks? Their subs? Should have been Biden's response to the initial attack. As the Ukraine foreign minister stated, Ru said they wouldn't invade Crimea, Ukraine, not kill civies/hosp/schools, use oil as blackmail, etc. So what do you believe Ru will actually do? Secret handshake answer - anything they can get away with.
They nuke - we nuke - and the world as we know it...ends.
Really an empty threat. Now if they tossed a nuke ICBM into Yellowstone, maybe. Biden and company don't know how to play poker. They are more into FBI policing, more like China.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998_Russian_financial_crisis -- something most are unaware of.
What does Ru export? Fuel! Nobody wants their cars anymore, no computer stuff, etc, etc. Kinda like Mexico 'imports' years ago, small independent shops and specialty stuff == cheap. Like Asia, cheap labor is only thing the west wants from them.
Above article shows the cost of their wars, specifically Chechenia, but Afgan and Crimea were very expensive as is Syria. Basically World Bank pulled them out of failure financially. The oil industry the US started there is all they got! If they get Ukraine, steel and grain will increase their income. Trade with China increasing ? Like what do they have that China wants and is willing to pay market price? China ain't dumb.
At this point in time, what the hell is Ukraine going to do with 40B$? Put it in their pocket?

Here’s a dirty little secret: many US fighters have a strap on gps that does the same thing. And we still toss unguided 2K lb bombs into a fish barrel.

Define “strap on GPS” and which aircraft are using it? General curiosity.

As far as dumb bombs…we’ll, yeah. They’re a hell of a lot cheaper and faster to produce. Everything doesn’t need to be laser, GPS, or IR guided. I’m glad we done waste GBUs on everything.

Ok, legacy hornets are using a Garmin aera 696 that only pulls ship’s power from it’s umbilical to provide the pilot with airspace situational awareness.

Same with legacy Vipers and some legacy Eagles. B-52 and B-1 on the bomber side. The B-1 isn’t even in the front seaters’ view, that goes to the OSO’s JMPS laptop.

ETA: GPS isn’t the only way to get position information. Dual INS has been a .mil standard for forever and a day, add to it TACAN and A/A TACAN for s/a.
