So my tax money didn't buy those arms? It did. It has a cost.
For the old munitions that were heading down the path to being destroyed, that is a sunk cost. Money is already spent. Have to look from this point forward. Which is cheaper - disposing of the munitions (hint: that is pretty darn expensive with all the environmental and safety requirements) or shipping them to Ukraine where they will help degrade an enemy.? Granted, not everything we have shipped was headed to the scrap heap.

I’m sure you know what happened to the French when they prepared to fight WWI in the late 1930’s ? Right, it was WWII time and their preparations had already aged-out.

The Russian Republic is not the Soviet Union, and Russia is not our natural enemy.

Why are our Military Brass so intent on preparing to fight Russia ?

Could it be our domestic finances ?

Why do the leftists & democrats keep pushing this ? Shouldn’t we be looking, instead, towards China ?

    leVieux

If you don't think Putin's "Russian Republic" is not trying its best to restore the USSR, I have a bridge to sell you. Russia has been our enemy since WW2.

Since Ukraine is doing such a good job of degrading Russia's military, we can focus on China. And anyone who has been reading will recognize that there is growing attention on China - and not just by the U.S.

It just seems like since Korea we've always gotten our military industrial complex (Eisenhower warned us about that monster) involved in another war which we never win. It was one night in Vietnam as a Marine in 1968, laying under a poncho all night in the damn jungle with monsoon rain pounding, I asked myself what in the hell am I doing here. I asked other guys who had the same question. We were all gung-ho at first but after seeing how our hands were being tied each day, knew that someone was making lots of $$ off that war and killing and maiming lots of Americans by dragging it out. Has been the same for each one since. Ukraine will be no different, same old sheet....
    Except we have not sent troops in to Ukraine. {Beyond a small number of special ops types.}

I understand all that, that’s the part in our “news”.

But, I think there’s more to it. The M-I-C & Globalists push for confrontation.

Putin is reacting sensibly to ever-increasing NATO agressive moves on his borders.

Listen to General Flynn’s explanations !

Wow. NATO invaded Russia? I did not know that.

    I thought Russia invaded Ukraine.

Indeed, with respect to the Donbas, repeated plebiscites indicated that large majorities sought to be in Russia, not Ukraine.

Note that, in each case, Putin has not attempted to take or subjugate the entire country. only the traditional Russian sectors.

Historians now tell that the REAL underlying cause for each war was government overspending and unmanageable national debt levels. Tell me, does that ring a bell re our current situation ?

So, you all can believe the D.C. / media line, but we all know that they both just lie and lie. . . .

    leVieux
    .
Even most of the ethnic Russians in Ukraine are backing Ukraine. More than a few fighting Russia.

Did not attempt to take the entire country?? That is laughable. How could anyone not have read of the fighting near Kyiv at the start of the war? That was not a traditional Russian sector. Read Putin's own words, he intended to take the entire country.

You are more intelligent than this.

Just consider Alsace; how many times did it change nationality ?
I grew up in Hondo, Texas, where the residents were proud of their German ancestry. Next door in Castroville? Those people were Alsatians. The two towns hated each other with unreasonable ferocity. I once wore my Hondo school jacket to a function at the Castroville high school gym. I was literally stopped and told that I was awfully brave for doing that. It wasn't meant as a compliment; it was "How stupid are you?" slightly rephrased.

Our open warfare was limited to Friday night football but, wow, the animosity was something palpable and obviously ran far, far deeper than just a rivalry between athletic teams.

I really hate seeing that kind of BS scaled up to national levels but, hey, that's pretty much all of recorded European history, isn't it?

The regions Putin has occupied were traditionally and continually home to ethnic Russians who spoke Russian and followed Russian customs.
    .

Like all those ethnic Germans in the Sudatenland who were rescued by Hitler. I'm sure the rest of Europe still feels a debt of gratitude to him.

Do you realize you're actually repeating Putin's fanciful "historical" rationalization that he attempted to justify a war of aggression with? There was never the 'greater Russia" Putin spins tall tales about. Ukrainians are not "ethnic Russians" - Russia has been trying to exterminate them since before WWI.

Why are you on board with supporting a dyed-in-the-wool Soviet?

We have been fighting Russia since the end of WW1, with a timeout in WW2.
They are no more our friend than the Chicoms.

Nor have I forgotten what they did to kill American troops, including some of my friends & relatives, in Korea and Vietnam.
Screw that commie scumbag Putler and his thugocracy, they are a disease that rots everything they touch.

I do not understand why some cannot see that.

That is just fiction on Flynn’s part. Relying on the words on one disgruntled general doesn’t make for much sense.
The only aggression has been ALL on Putin.
The Poles, the Baltic States, Finland, and Ukraine have not made a move to threaten Russian since the USSR broke up.
And Sweden clamoring to join NATO should give everyone on the planet a clue about Putin’s tyrannical aggression.
Vladimir Putin IS the new Hitler and is using Adolph’s playbook.

So much of this is utter nonsense.

This is most akin to Mexico attacking Texas because there are a large number of Spanish speakers in San Antonio with Mexican heritage and after all Texas has been traditionally Mexican and Mexicans are mistreated here. That in a nutshell is russia's argument, along with a bio lab at Ft Hood...

No part of Ukraine was a "traditional russian sector" parts have been occupied by russia, in the past, but the people were not "russian" even if now there is a substantial number of ethnic Russians living there. If I am wrong, please show me the parts of Ukriane you think should go back to russia.

You seem to want to argue the invasion was justified, but can only use conspiracy theories to back it up.

russia deserves not one square meter of Ukraine's territory. Ukraine isn't russia, Ukrainians have never been russians. And just because *some* ethnic Russians who are Ukrainian citizens live in parts of the east, does not justify the invasion of the country.

    It's all moot.

Well, McCamey & Iraan in West Texas are like that, over H S Football; and they are the very same ethnicities.

Are U familiar with the “Reconquista Doctrine” ?

Mexican radicals and socialist California Chicanos want Mexico to take California back.

Could be an improvement for the USA ?
