How did they know of Lincoln in 1776 when they adopted that motto? It was in opposition to King George.Look at the slogan on the state seal 'sic semper tyrannis'. It has its roots in slavery and the confederacy, and, it means 'thus always to tyrants'. More closely meaning that Lincoln was a tyrant. How can the state be against tyranny and not uphold the Second Amendment?
Good question. The state should understand the motto for what it stands for. I didn't make my statement detailed enough. John Wilkes Booth uttered it when he jumped on the stage at Ford Theater after he shot Lincoln. But, it is the state motto and the state should understand and live by it, unless it was only to be used in opposition to King George. Thanks for the reply. How did they know of Lincoln in 1776 when they adopted that motto? It was in opposition to King George.
Here is a good question:

Funny, I was blaming you for the NRA's absence too.Was wondering that myself. Seems they left it all up to GOA and VCDL. Maybe the NRA is short on cash cause they keep begging me for me money.
