For pistol either a Ruger or Buckmark are the best choice. I'm a big fan of Marlin's .22 rifles (795 and 60), but its hard to beat a Ruger 10/22 too...

I like the 10-22...I got 2 of 'em.

You get something that looks like this...

Then before you know it, you have dressed it up and made a serious paper-puncher...

    I want to get a CZ 452 Lux and a 22/45.

That particular model of rifle has been recently discontinued but nib ones are still out there. It's pretty expensive for just plinking though. Probably the high end of mid-grade rimfire rifles. Used Anshutz rifles are only around $200 more than the CZ.

If you can find a Kleingunther, they shoot extraordinarily well... weren't cheap in the beginning... have no idea about the used market... would love to find another magazine.

I don’t know how Outbreak managed to do that to his Walther P22. I’ve run over 10,000 rounds through mine without issue.

I was thinking the same thing...I wonder what the story behind that is.

I have over 5K through mine. It is picky about lower velocity ammo and the trigger spring did get so weak that DA didn't work but SA worked just fine. S&W sent me a couple of replacement springs that fixed it right up.

    Browning Buckmark

I since bought a Marlin 795 and loving it. Not the best but for $130 ($140 OTD) less $25 rebate, I think it is an awesome deal. Pretty accurate at 20 yards using steel sight and planning on topping it with a cheap Barska 3-9x32 scope ($39 at Amazon) and will try longer range then.

My Browning Buckmark and Marlin 795 makes a great combo plinkers w/o breaking the bank.

Quality ,22 Rifles and pistols are around..There are many opinions as to the best and no doubt that many folks favorites serve them well or excellently.

Mine are the Ruger 10/22 and the Ruger MkII pistol...Find somebody with these and other mentioned .22s and get to fire them and decide for yourself.

Ruger Single Six. Every Texan should own at least one.
Henry H001 - the only affordable .22 levergun.

Hit the pawn shops I picked up a nice little Browning take down 22 a few weeks ago for $200. I think a new one runs around $600, fun to shoot and though not as accurate my my Weatherby 22 it will still put down very small groups and weighs like nothing. I like the Weatherby, I got it cheap but a long story going back 34 years, it feels lust like a full sized rifle cause it is.

I just got my buckmark, love it, great shooter! between the buckmark and my 10/22 I think I am set. you WILLL dump through .22 ammo like you are in a zombie apocalypse though in a 10/22... it is hard not to. :)

Ruger 10/22 @ Academy for $189. This is the blued 18.5 barrel and wood stock.

    For a pistol in 22, I have a GSG-1911. Fun gun.

Get a better scope and some decent rings and it might surprise you. My Marlin (Model 60, but I think the barrels and much of the action is the same) is capable of hitting golf balls at 100 yards more often than not.
