So this wasn't today, but between Sunday morning and Tuesday evening I loaded 100x 7.62x39 with 110gr vmax 308s. I also sized, primed, and expanded 500 9mm. Just need to put the bullets in now but it gets hot I'm my garage. Plus I sized another hundred or so 9mm before one broke in my die.

This weekend I'll load up the 9mm and test my 110 gr AK rounds.

I use a VMax when I load for my CZ 527 7.62x39 (.310 bullet dia.) and have had pretty good luck with them. What powder are you using and what are you shooting them out of?

    Charlie the alien!

I'm using my I.o. inc m214 (AK clone). I checked the bore and wouldn't you know it, the lands are 308! I shot tulammo and would get 6-8 inch groups with it. Those have a .311 bullet. I pulled some of the 311s out and resized the steel cases, then redistributed the powder with about a +/- 5% increase. I then seated 110 gr Sierra varmenter bullets and crimped them. I got 1" groupings at my best with it at 50 yards and 1.5" at 100! Pretty damn good for any rifle, let alone an AK!!!

I had reused the original powder in the tulammo cases for that. I had problems with the flat (hollow) point of the varmenter bullets.

The v-max has the plastic tip so I'm hoping it will load better. I worked my butt off for dawico over a few Sundays in exchange for some 7.62x39 brass. I cleaned and loaded them up with 23 grains of h4198. Starting the load a little on the light side according to the hodgdon site (called for 23-25gr) but my Lee dies came with a data sheet indicating 21-23gr so I figured I'd play it safe...

I was also thinking about buying the hornady z-max 311 bullets and resizing them down to 308. They are 123 gr and I know that was the magic number for the AK. I can get 500 of them from cabalas for about 120-130$. This is about the same as I can get 500 v-max for online. I want to see how the 110 gr does at a range of 200 yards and more first. If it doesn't do well I'll probably just get the 311s and size them down.

That wasn't me. I just want credit given to the proper individual.

I was going to trim my .338 brass. I picked up a Lee lock stud setup for it but the shell holder is cut too big and won't hold the rim properly. The length gauge is too long also but that is easy to fix.

I sent Lee an email. I was going to try and squeeve the holder but figured I would see what Lee said first.

Picked up a case of virgin 9mm brass.
Can't wait to fire form it to my G17's chamber.

Friday night deprimed and sized 1k 9mm. Tonight, expanded them. Tomorrow seat primer.

    I like your method better

Ewww, no way I'd do that volume on a single stage.

Well, so far I have sized deprimed 500+/- 7.62x39 and loaded another 100 of them.

Then I have sized, deprimed, and expanded 1500 +/- 9mm and have already primed 500 or so.

I have not yet reached my goal of offsetting the cost of a big boy press yet so I still need to use my playschool press.

    Some day though. Someday...

Load an oddball caliber and the time will come much sooner.

I started loading for handguns on a single and it was miserable. Do what you got to do and can budget though.

First, it seems 308x39 is itself an oddball. Just today talking to a guy at cabelas he argued with me that my AK had to have a 311 barrel because they never made them with a 308 barrel...

Second, for what I would pay for a good rig I could just rent time at your shop for quite a while

I believe the gas money would negate the savings pretty quick.

So you never go out to eat because it's cheaper to cook at home right ?
People buy bass boats when they could never justify offsetting the cost of fish
Sometimes we get caught up in the "paralysis of analysis"
For me I enjoy handloading so much and having a Dillon only increased my joy of the hobby

For me I would not enjoy loading at the level I do using only a single stage
