After building an M16A1 clone I've decided it's time to continue on down the line, this time it's the M16A2. Picked up the receiver on Friday and a box of goodies showed up today. Unfortunately I'm on a waiting list for the barrel and machine work of pinning a front sight again, hopefully it won't take over three months like the A1 did.

I chose a PSA receiver as my base.

Furniture and all the innards.

The A2 carried over the cleaning kit and trap door butt stock of the A1 so I rounded all that up plus a Colt army issue strap. The M-7 bayonet was also carried over and I have another original unissued example.

I hope you guys don't mind all the pictures of this bayonet, I figured a sealed in the box example is not something you see everyday and you might be interested. I already have a Colt M-7 for my A1 and wanted an Imperial made M-7 for the A2. The guy I picked this up from couldn't guarantee it would be an Imperial but said chances were high as the ones he had opened were all Imperial made.

Spanking new M8A1, the protective coating has gone chalky over the years.

Oh yeah! Chalky coating will clean up with some oil.

And nicely oiled up.
