It appears that ammo supplies are starting to get better but the pricing is still way out of wack. Will we ever get back to normal, asking for a friend.

From the CEO of Vista Outdoors:

    Dear Customer:

Thank you for your business and for your continued support of American manufacturing. We have hired hundreds of people over the last 12 months and invested millions of dollars to produce more ammunition to meet our customer and consumer needs. During this year we have seen significant increases in raw material prices such as copper, zinc, and lead. Additionally, increases in labor and health care have exceeded our projections as the COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all.

Effective 4/1/2021 Federal, Remington, CCI, and SPEER ammunition will take a price increase of 3-15% across all products from our last price list. Unless you notify us to cancel an order, we will reprice all existing and future orders shipped on or after 4/1/2021 to the new 4/1 prices.

You will receive your finalized price list no later than February 19th.

Thank you for your continued support of our brands and our American workforce.

Not unexpected. Cost of doing business can only increase so much before it has to get passed on.

Other industries have seen 5+% price increases month over month every month this year.

Copper and brass prices are up, primers expected to remain in short supply, transportation costs up, labor prices up, taxes going up - the best you can hope for is that the prices will stabilize. They will not go back to pre-Biden prices.

Prices will drop, probably back to pre-panic levels. But it will take a year or so.

Manufacturers have ramped up production, they will leave it ramped up (if past history is any indicator) for some time after supply catches up to demand. That is when prices will drop.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard with respect to oil prices "Never going back down", always been proven wrong.

    Supply, demand.

Simple, they never will. Once the dust settles, they will lower to a new normal which will still be higher than pre panic. Don't expect much relief whiles Dems are in charge.
Dead on! plus we are already at 5.6 percent inflation and those numbers are going to get ugly early with the 5 trillion dollar spending during OBiden's first 8-9 months (3 trillion pending)

We will see an increase in production levels, but pricing at pre-covid levels is not going to happen. Number1- everything else has increased in price, including food, gas, houses, etc. etc. etc. Number 2- ammo companies have witnessed people willing to lay out ridiculous amounts of money for ammo in the last 16 months. My pre-covid cost for 9mm was $8.99 a box in Feb 2020. I will never see those prices again.
